We stayed in room 3 which hasn't had a mention. I thought it was the nicest room we had ever stayed in
the U k. All the furniture pale grey,India Jane I am sure. A bust of a Greek god to keep an eye on us.
Delightful and friendly staff. Nothing was too much trouble.
We felt we were in the heart of Whitby. Our dinner was all fish and lovely. Ps shame about the weather

The room was outstanding, downstairs we ate and drank in the brasserie, all staff were polite and friendly. The food was beautiful. It overlooks the river with the most beautiful views, we watched the sunset and had breakfast in the glorious sunshine. we will highly recommend every time!

Room tip: Every room is completely different so look at the all the photos before choosing!

This hotel right on the harbour front has great views, fabulous customer service and the most delicious breakfast. We stayed two nights and had breakfast both mornings. Husband said his eggs Benedict was the best he's ever had. I had the full english on day one (a rare treat for me) because I just knew it would be good, and it was! Next time we stay we'll eat dinner too. We stayed in room 2, the duplex. It was smart, modern and clean and we rang for tea and coffee which was delivered promptly. We also had a little balcony to sit on to watch all comings and goings below.

Room tip: The rooms at the front are great for sitting in whatever the weather.

This was our first visit to this hotel for 2 nights and definitely won't be our last. It is located off Haggersgate as close to the harbour as you can get (without getting wet !) next to the tour boats and 5-10 mins walk from the station. We booked room 4 on the 2nd floor which is spacious, with French repro-style furniture including a good sized double bed, wardrobe and a sofa. Additional drawer space would be useful for longer stays. The sizeable en-suite bathroom has a large freestanding bath (presumably due to the sloping ceilings) with a shower wand attachment. The bath takes time to fill, so pour a drink first. Whilst the room does not have tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary hot drinks are available on request. The room has great views of the harbour and along the front. You could people watch for hours.
All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We ate in the hotel on both evenings - not inexpensive by local standards but wonderful quality, fresh food. The seafood linguine came with the full variety of seafood, so fresh you could taste the sea. The cod and chips at £10 and £15 were excellent. There is an excellent choice for breakfast from full english to kippers, which we noticed also tempted non-residents.
Unless you are on a tight budget, we would recommend indulging a bit at this hotel. You won't be disappointed.

Room tip: Room 4 is spacious with good views but no shower

Marine hotel

2 years since my last visit. Not much has changed in the food department. It's simply wonderful. It's not really a bar now as the tables are definitely all food but what food it is. I don't think you could pick a bad thing off the menu. 3 courses with wine plus a bottle of champagne and a couple of cocktails came to £130. You could spend far more if you like caviar and oysters but you get a great meal for that kind of money. A seafood delight.
