This year the pub has been re furbished but has lost none of It’s appeal. What a fantastic array of real ales both on tap and gravity. Tremendous atmosphere and delightful friendly staff make it such an enjoyable experience. Quality ale kept in tip top condition.

I'd not been to the FC for probably about four or five years but was so glad I made the most recent foray, walking from central Norwich on a blistering late Saturday afternoon in July.

A Goliath amongst Norwich pubs and rightly so. The accolades accrued over the years are thoroughly deserved.

The whole place was just how I'd remembered it, even after the recent gentle refurbishment and was as good as ever with a spellbinding array of great cask and keg beers, friendly and knowledgeable staff and generally cheery punters taking it all in.

On account of the weather, I took residence on one of the outside tables and the next two hours flew by. There's a marked local feel about the FC, due to it being on a mainly residential road and not in central Norwich, which to that extent makes it all even more special and worth the effort seeking out.

And with this pub being the origin of the species, there's also just down the road the Fat Cat at the Fat Percy, which is mainly used for private functions, the Fat Cat Bewery Tap and the Fat Cat and Canary so Norwich is more than catered for with cat drinking options.

Excellent.

This pub has from what I gather been CAMRA pub of year a few times. I can see why it is a real ale lovers paradise great golden beers all the way to dark porters and stouts. I must say I had crouch vale Yakima, white rat and Brewsters hophead all were outstanding quality.

Saw plenty of other customers sampling wheat and other styles.

Fantastic pub. When in Norwich YOU have to visit

This corner street pub, is world famous (well, in the UK anyway) Its large range of real ales are kept in a superb condition as are the cheese (and ham) rolls!
Has lots of memorabilia on the walls of old Norwich pubs and breweries.
This is one of the first pubs in Norwich to promote real ales on a larger scale.
Well worth seeking out if you're in Norwich.
