Description: Welcome to Cafe Malabar, a genuinely family run Indian restaurant in Norwich. Antony and Lizy, the owners have always had a passion for traditional South Indian cuisine, having both grown up in Kerala where the history of ancient ayurvedic therapy, health and traditional recipes began. Our menu is a celebration of the fine range of flavours and dishes famous to the region. All of our dishes are made from scratch using the freshest, highest quality ingredients. We not use ready made spice mix or pre made pastes like many Indian restaurants and this is something we are very proud of. We are also proud to cater for vegetarians, vegans, those who need to eat a gluten free diet and those of you who like to enjoy a beer, glass of wine or two with their meal. We look forward to seeing you soon!

We went to Café Malabar for my son's 19th birthday. We live in Norwich, we are vegetarian and we love Indian food, it's always our first choice.
This restaurant did not disappoint, the food was fresh, delicious and so delicately spiced that the taste was exquisite.
Also, the waitress was really polite, attentive and well informed about the menu,
The restaurant had a very laid back, relaxed feel and we will definitely be going back with all four of our kids.

Amazing service, incredibly thoughtful staff, and, most importantly, wonderful food! The food at Cafe Malabar is honestly terrific, excellently spiced and really tasty. I would seriously recommend the gobi, biryani, daal etc. The staff were really friendly and explained to us the difference in northern/southern Indian cuisine. It was a 19th birthday meal I won't forget in a long while. All in all, a fantastic experience, a real hidden, affordable gem on Magdalen Street that's definitely worth checking out. Also managed to snag a cheeky after eight with the bill, so what's not to love?

I went with two friends one evening. The waiter could hardly speak a word of English and they were very short staffed. We ordered a bottle of wine. Our order was taken thirty minutes after we arrived and after one and a half hours no food had appeared. They simply could not cope and people were waiting for a table. We stayed another fifteen minutes and at that point we were told was coming out. By this time is was 10.30pm. We left and simply paid for the wine. Will never go again and the food we did see on the table simply doesn't compare with the three other really good SE Asian restaurants in Norwich.
