“Outstanding apartment, location, and service”

I can honestly say that I may never stay anywhere else in London.

The "Old School" is an outstanding apartment, in the best location with the best service. This was the first time I used an apartment rental service and was very pleased with the Trip Advisor system over the other web services. The communication between myself and the "Old School" managers John and Joanna was clear and consistent. All of our emails were professional and helpful for my planning - before, during and after the trip.

My wife and I planned a short trip to London with our extended family, including young school-age children, teenagers, and an adult niece. The apartment had enough room for our family - large kitchen, dining, sitting room, 2 full baths, and 2.5 bedrooms. There are huge windows and ceilings that make the apartment feel even bigger. The master bedroom, king size bed, has an open loft above with two comfortable twin beds - perfect if privacy is not a requirement. The second bedroom, queen sized bed, was located at the end of the entrance hall. Plenty of closet and drawer space in both rooms

The kitchen was equipped with modern appliances - toaster, dishwasher, professional gas cook top. The kettle and french press coffee were the most important to us. There were basic sets of plates, bowls, and silverware. We shopped at the food market (Sainsbury's) right outside of the Holborn station. Perfect for all the essentials and more. Great prices too.

The baths were spacious - plenty of hot water and good pressure in the showers. Plenty of towels in the closet under the stairs. There is laundry machine in the apartment, but as it sounds like a 747 is landing on top of the building I recommend not running it late at night. This is a residential building, not a hotel.

The location is outstanding. Red Lion Square (1.5 blocks away) is just about equidistant from Holborn tube station and The British Musuem. Holborn is on the Piccadilly line so we had a direct line from Heathrow to the apartment (about a 45 min trip one way). "Old School" is about a 5 minute walk from Holborn, easy to navigate even with luggage. The neighborhood is home to a few college buildings. We felt safe walking around even late at night from the station. There were three wonderful cafes on the corner. One of which, Becks (highly recommended) was open for dinner. Plenty of restaurants just three blocks away on High Holborn between the apartment and the tube.

Before we arrived, I thought Holborn seemed far from the "tourist center" of London - Leicester Square, but I was so glad we did not stay closer to that and Piccadilly Circus. Holborn is the perfect spot in the real center of London, truly in the heart of it all with out the tourist noise of Soho. The Old School is in a great neighborhood in London and I wanted my family to have that experience in one of the greatest cities on Earth.

We had wonderful weather. Mostly sunny skies, with a few overcast days and a short drizzle rain one afternoon. So the walks from the apartment through Convent Garden and Soho, all the way to Trafalgar were fantastic.

We used the tube exclusively to travel about London. And had our Oysters cards sent prior to the trip. There is no better metro system on Earth than the London Underground and I've been on most of them. Even in the chaos of rush hour congestion (we did not time it right, once), I felt safe with my family of young children.

If you are planning a trip to London and you need an outstanding 2.5 bedroom apartment, in the best location, with outstanding service you can trust, do not hesitate to rent the Old School. You will be so happy you did.

“Great Location”

The location was great, central and easy to get around. Lots of little cafes close by to chose from. Spacious for 4 of us. Only downside was the smell of mould - very mouldy in the washing machine cupboard, tv didn't work and bathroom door didnt close getting stuck on the floor.

“Fantastic location will a cool old building and a modern restoration”
Reviewed 19 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We enjoyed this rental a lot. The location was excellent. It was easy to get to everything and there were a lot of good different ethnic food options for eating or getting take-out nearby. Our only complaint was that the Internet would quit working after a few minutes until my son plugged a laptop directly into the Ethernet and provided the access to the wi-fi. Ask before letting owner leave to make sure TV and Internet both work. The TV never did work, which we didn't care that much about really. It was a big space for being in London and it worked well for our family of five.

“Fantastic apartment in perfect location”

We are a family of five with three teenage boys and have just completed a very enjoyable nine night stay in this apartment.
After a very long flight from Australia we arrived at the the apartment around 9pm, to be met by the owner, John, who helped us with our bags, showed us the fundamentals of the apartment, gave the kids the all-important WiFi password and left us alone to get some much needed sleep.
Tha apartment is exactly as it looks in the photos. It's a really good size (by London standards) and comfortably accommodated our family. The fully equipped kitchen had all the necessary appliances which were relatively new and very clean, including a large, easy to use dishwasher. the huge windows let in tonnes of natural light and multiple wall heaters allow you to regulate the temperature in each room. The beds were large and comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for five showers each morning.
The location is simply perfect. There are lots of cafes, try Becks on the corner for a great breakfast, restaraunts and three pubs within 100 metres of the apartment and the Holborn tube station is a five minute walk away. You could also easily walk to the British Museum, Picadiilly Circus, Drury Lane, Covent Garden and a real highlight, the Charles Dickens Museum was two street away.
From the moment we enquired about the apartment to our actual stay (and everything in between) John could not have been more helpful and accommodating.
We would highly recommend this apartment and would definitely stay again, should the opportunity arise.

“Exceptional!”
Reviewed 7 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The character and architecture of this flat was a delightful experience. The location is central and close to public transportation. The management is helpful and everything is as it appears on the website. The flat is not air conditioned (tipical for England ) but we found that we did not need it. It includes an iron, washer/dryer and a blow dryer. It's a comfortable, beautiful place that I would book again.
