Not my favourite city farm, but we really enjoyed retreating into the gardens. Although minimalistic, they're quite spectacularly peaceful.
(The cat scratched my son, so he wasn't too thrilled)
Great farm. Free and educational
Brought six fresh eggs and got some great ideas for growing food in the garden.
It was great to come across this working farm in the busy streets of London. A great place to bring children to learn and escape from city life.
Cycled from central London to the farm in about 20mins and felt like I was in the countryside somewhere! Took a stroll through the cobblestone yard where the chickens and geese roam free - very very tranquil, unlike central London. Then had time for a very good cup of coffee, it was Friday afternoon and quite quiet so came out almost horizontally laid back... ready for the weekend to start.
Even on a cold autumn day the animals were out and about. The geese, ducks and chickens wander around and are very friendly. Suitable for young kids but older children may get bored quickly.
Tucked in the borough of Tower Hamlet is a little working farm. The farm has the usual complement of farm animals: chickens (running loose in the yard), rabbits, a pair of donkeys, a pair of pigs, and such. Little kids will love it, adults will be bored quickly.
The farm has a lot of character for a working farm--many of the barns look like they could really use some new boards and a fresh coat of paint.
If you happen to be in the area and have a few moments to spare, stop in for a quick visit (and maybe buy some fresh eggs to help them out). But if you're visiting London and don't have kids with you, you might want to skip this.
