Pollock's Toy Museum & Shop
Reviewed 6 April 2018 via mobile

Small little cozy toy museum, felt like a little gem on my discoveries. Well stocked, well maintained. Reasonably priced entry fee. They have a toy shop attached to the museum. One certainly will learn a thing or two about the history of toys. Credit cards accepted including Amex. Recommended. No guided tours that we came across. Not too busy.

If you are genuine vintage toys and dolls enthusiast, this quirky little museum is a must to visit. It's amazing how many interesting items can be crammed into such a small place. The shop is also worth browsing.

£7 wasted. Look round the shop for free and save yourself the nightmares from the scary old dolls which are 80% of the display. One subbuteo box, a small meccano set and a few matchbox cars is about as modern as it gets.

Dark and cold experience on a snowy day. Difficult to read information and see the toy exhibits as it was quite dark and many areas badly or not lit.

Disappointing experience and not worth £7 admission.

Gift shop was a little better

I had heard about Pollock's Toy Museum for a while and I was very eager to at last have a chance to visit the venue. It was certainly intriguing to behold; an entire medium size building that had been transformed into a rabbit warren of small exhibitions rooms, combining a sizeable collection with the feel of old English house. The result is a feeling that you are stepping into a piece of London that hasn't been disturbed for quite some time and is still preserved despite all the changes that city has gone through.

I do believe though that the museum's collections could do with a sorting out and reorganising, as some of the displays are rather cluttered and a bit dusty. There was one doll with her head on backwards for example that I am sure wasn't meant to be like that...

Pollocks is certainly worth a visit if you are a lover of heritage and old culture but it may not appeal to everyone as it is more of a niche cultural venue. With a bit of investment in updating the rooms and exhibitions I could see this museum becoming a hidden gems for culture lovers in London.
