Went there for afternoon tea en famille. The scones were crumbly and wrong, the jam unsatisfying, the sandwiches fine, the cakes unappealing. But the worst part was the service — they were completely hopeless. Took us forever to be seated (with a reservation!) and then we weren’t given cutlery, and then we were given the wrong order, etc etc.
A charming enough place with the cloister feel, and for a beginner, a lovely afternoon tea, but if you’ve a bit of experience, simply visit the abbey, and go for tea somewhere else!

Best avoided, apart from the dearth of nearby alternatives. On Sundays the more pleasant airy upper room with a view of the Abbey and natural light is closed and you will be forced to eat in the crypt. It’s a depressing space made worse by the diabolical service and food which would be ok if you were in an institution but not for paying customers. Read between the lines of other reviews and you’ll see that only easily impressed Americans are happy and the rest need to get out more ..

Needed a bite to revive me after a long, long queue in the cold to enter the abbey. They gave me a table quickly enough. I ordered the soup of the day with bread and butter for £6; not bad for a London museum café. The soup was really tasty and perfect for a cold day. I also enjoyed a white chocolate and lemon mousse.

But I cannot honestly give the place a 'very good' rating. The service is pretty bad. The tables do not have designated waitresses, so I interacted with at least three of them. Not one of them was particularly pleasant and their English language skills were limited. They made me feel rushed and kept trying to take the menu away when I wasn't done with it. A nice place like this deserves decent service.

Who wouldn't want to grab a bite at a glorious setting like Westminster Abbey? This cafe has a cozy atmosphere and the pastry is pretty tasty. However, as others have noted, the food is a bit pricey. We also expected a bit more for out tea than a teabag in a pot. The service seems at times overwhelmed and a bit testy. Also, be aware that they add a service charge to your bill, so tip accordingly.

This was a real surprise although quite a few of the better "attractions" in London have really upped their catering game over the past few years. We visited during the really cold snap of 2018 and were so impressed with all the food we ate downstairs at the Cellarium. A really hearty Roast sweet potato and leak soup was truly tasty and lovely as was the staple charred steak sandwich that we had. There were more formal offerings available but we were just looking for more os a snack meal on this occasion. The soup had a real home cooking feel about which was very yummy indeed and the bread selection that went with was also interesting and very good. Also the pricing was very fair we thought.
