That's what the website promised us for our Christmas dinner booking. In truth it looked virtually the same as it did when I visited there in the summer. A very disappointing experience and didn't deliver what was advertised at all. A few wreaths and branches dotted around is the bare minimum of Christmas decor. Go for the beer and the ok food but don't get suckered in expecting anything else remotely festive. A winter wonderland this is not!

Although I have been many times and would previously recommended it this was the first time with my 14 year old son. Although it was 18.00 on a Saturday evening and wanted an evening meal we were told he was not allowed. This is not any English law nor is it German custom. Dont go if you have children they are not welcome.

Servus Barry,

Thank you very much for your feedback. We are very sorry that your Saturday evening didn’t go as planned.

We are a quirky and different venue from other pubs and restaurants and after having some difficulties with children not being comfortable in the extremely noisy surroundings we needed to change our guidelines accordingly in order to prevent this from happening again

Children and families are always welcome during the daytime, but in order to protect the majority’s well-being we decided not to allow children and teenager (under the age of 18) in after 6pm. We also mention this on our website and in your booking confirmation email.

I’m very sorry for the inconvenience caused and hope you can understand our decision.

Kind regards,
Your Bierschenke Team

Biers are good, the atmosphere is cozy and very German. The staff is friendly and serviceminded and the food is amazing. I would for sure recommend you going there. Especially Laura helped to make our experience even better.

We went to Bierschenke around 4pm and all tables were reserved, but they gave us a table anyway. We ordered the shared meal with meatloaf, Nuernberger sausage, bratwurst red cabbage. It was fantastic. Our girls both had a sausage dish that was equally wonderful. We wanted to thank Eva for all her help and great service. She answered all of our questions and packaged up our leftovers for a great breakfast the next day.

We were a group of 6. It took us about 10 minutes (!) to get the waitress' attention to order some drinks. 20 mins later we were ready to order some food - rather than the staff anticipating this, we had to ask for the menus. Ordered 3x Wiener schnitzel, 2x mushroom salad, some chips on the side and 1x schweinshaxn. Appreciate this is a German place rather than your typical salad place so no extensive selection of salads - hence I asked if I could have some chicken with my mushroom salad. Waitress said this normally was possible except for tonight because the kitchen was too busy. Umm... Ok.
Because everyone was hungry we also ordered some pretzels. 20 mins pass by and no sign of the pretzels - had to chase the waitress if they were coming (mind you the pretzels aren't fresh out of the oven or dome thing so should take 1 min).
After another 20 mins the side order of chips arrives, with no main course in sight. Another 15 mins, finally main courses arrive.. At least 5 of them. After waiting for 15 mins we ask where the remaining two main courses are... We are told they need another 15 mins as there has been a "kitchen emergency" (??). We wait another 30 mins - no main courses. By this point we give up and ask for the bill. To compensate they offer us 1 schnapps on the house but I don't like schnapps - no alternatives are offered and no deduction has been made from the bill to compensate. Never experienced such appealing service in my life - needless today won't be returning anytime soon...
