Green Park is a stones throw from the hustle and bustle of Whitehall. The park runs from Horse Guards Parade through to Buckingham Palace running parallel to The Mall. At the north end of the park is the serpentine, a man made lake complete with ducks and swans.
The park offers a stunning array of colour with flower beds full of plants maintained by the Royal Parks. There are plenty of trees to provide shade in summer yet there are also acres of open lawns to sit and relax over a picnic and to watch the world go by.
If sitting on the grass is not to your liking you can hire a good old fashioned deck chair.
You will also find a tea room toward the south side offering light refreshments including ice creams but be warned this is London and as a tourist trap you will pay. There is a smaller kiosk adjacent to the exit to St James’s Palace.
There are public toilets adjacent to both, but we aware that at the time of visiting you need 20 pence coins to get through a turn style arrangement.
