Reviewed 24 February 2012

I too looked at some of the reviews and was worried. I shpuld not have been. Great location a minute from Lancaster Gate. Free wifi. I had single room (2 twin beds). Very clean, good use of space, easonable size bathroom for London - bath with shower, small sink. A very good price for an en suite room. Obviously newly revamped as nice colurs abd stylish. Excellent (stayed Feb 2012)

I stayed at this hotel from 17-19 February 2012. Rooms were comfortable, nice, clean and (for London standards) quite spacious with all the amenities (tv, telephones, airco, coffee/tea, roomservice). Lobby was quite spacious and pleasant too. There is a fine bar/restaurant as well. Staff (reception and concierge) were very friendly and helpful. Across the road is the entrance to Hyde Park/Kensington Gardens. At approx. 100 meters from the hotel is tube station Lancaster Gate (on the Central Line) and the bus stop (direct service to Marble Arch, Park Lane, Victoria Station, Westminster, Waterloo Station) is also nearby (as is a docking station for cycle hire (tip!)). The neighbourhood (Bayswater) is very pleasant and quiet.

Have read some poor reviews so was a bit worried. Having said that it was fine. Check in staff were really friendly. The room was ok for London standards. I also ate in the restaurant and thought the food quality on the Malaysian menu was superb, really tasty and not bad value. For breakfast we were shoe horned into the downstairs area, very dark and to be honest a bit grim first thing. Seemed a bit of an after thought as stocks of food were low and service patchy. Rest of stay was fine though and I would stay there again, if only for evening food.

This was our 2nd time of staying at the Corus but this trip was with our 6 year old son too!!
We took advantage of the recent Travelzoo offer & were not disappointed. Our family room was ground floor which made it easy to get to/from & although not huge, it was more than adequate for our 2 night stay.
I did have to remind them about our 'complimentary' bottle of wine but it was delivered to the room straight away...& went down very well after a long day seeing the sights!!
Breakfast was 1st class...I'm amazed by some of the negative comments on here about breakfast. Our first morning we were seated on the ground level, the next we were downstairs in the restaurant. Both mornings the food was excellent. Plenty of choice & good service.
The hotel was busy as it was half term holidays but we never really felt rushed at all.
I would definetly recommentd this hotel...so close to tubes/buses & Hyde Park / Kensington Gardens right opposite.
My only moan would be dont use the little convienience shop a few doors away....SO expensive but we were a captive audience I guess & this is nothing to do with the hotel!!
Thank you Corus for such a great stay :))

Get a room on the back of the hotel (facing a brick wall) and you´ll have a very quiet room. Located across the street from Italian Gardens is Kensington Gardens this hotel is strategically placed for the visitor liking quite and still close to the buzzing city. Lancaster Gate (underground) just 200 yards away, buses (to Picadilly Circus) still closer and in the other direction (for the Circle and District lines) in Notting Hill in the same range.
The (standard) rooms are very small and suitable for the traveller with little or no luggage. There is no closet and no drawers so you´ll have to do with a couple of hangers and your suitcase.
The bathroom is tiny and the TV only offers four (4) channels.
But it is clean and the service is swift and efficient.
Your choice is full English or continental breakfast. The English breakfast is fair. (And the reason for this opinon is the ham, which is some compressed type of meat, no turkey, no herrings, no salmon. Eggs are scrambled of fried. The bacon is very good and if your into sausages you´ll have your fair share.)
For a weekend stay this is a good place.

Dear Guest

Thank you for leaving feedback following your recent stay and I am pleased to read that you enjoyed many aspects of the hotels services and faciltiies.

Your constructive comments are welcome and I am aware that some of the rooms are compact but priced accordingly and an upgrade is available. I would mention that the TV does in fact offer more than 4 channels and also radio too using the Freeview system. The breakfast buffet is comparable to other 4 star hotels in London with a wide range of hot and cold items including a quality breakfast ham however the demand for other meats and fish is a suggestion for the Chef to review.

I do hope that you will stay again when you next visit London and if I can be of any help with a booking please do contact me directly.
