This was my 5th time staying at the Mercure, for an annual business trip.
Obviously I come back for a reason - the biggest one being LOCATION. it's unbelievably convenient to the Heathrow Express to London Paddington and Paddington's multiple London Underground connections, as well as buses on Praed Street.
This year I was in room 312, on the 3rd floor facing Praed St and it was a very generously sized room and bathroom, with bath. It was peaceful and spotlessly clean.
On the downside, my in-room phone did not work (I let them know this when I checked out), the sink and bath drainage is very slow, and i do think they could improve their 'room service' system as it is not available in-house - you have to log on to a web page and pay in advance online, for an external place to deliver to you. When you are home late and tired, this just seems ... too complicated and hard!
The desk staff at check-in are lovely and made a point of saying 'welcome back', which is a very nice touch.
The old guy with the moustache who looks after the luggage is still as grumpy as ever though!More
