If being within a few steps of Paddington Station and the Heathrow Express is your priority, the Mercure Hotel Paddington is your perfect choice in London. However, if you are able and willing to walk a little further or take a taxi, there are much better hotels in the area at much less than GBP270 per night, without breakfast!. The rooms in this hotel are small but nicely furnished. The bathroom in our room was a joke: it required acrobatic skills to get in and out of the shower/ bathtub and had just enough shelving space for soap, toothbrush and comb but not much more. In fact, the lobby, lift, hallways and everything else displayed the same kind of frugality, except for the price of rooms. Although service was acceptable, it too was minimal.
