We stayed here because we had arrived on a long haul flight and it was close to Paddington Station where Heathrow Express has a convenient shuttle train from Heathrow Airport. The Mercure is in a convenient location for transit visitors and therefore quite expensive even though we got a cheap online deal. The room was clean and the staff were efficient and friendly. One thing I would do differently is have some coins on me so that I could tip the porter appropriately. The front desk would not change money for me so I had to tip a five pound note. We were jet lagged and hungry so ordered some room service food. All I can say is it did not quite match the description on the menu. In the morning we got up early and went for a walk before catching our connecting train at 10am. There was rubbish everywhere in the street outside the hotel and along the street. Hopefully the local council will remedy this before the Olympics. We went for a walk and a short distance down the road and across, found a warm welcoming Italian bistro with the footpath outside neatly swept and the owner inside serving up lots of delicious English breakfasts to the locals. We had a fabulous breakfast and were all set for the next step of our journey.

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, a small but tastefully furnished bedroom with a very comfortable bed, plus free Wi-Fi. I checked in at 8am, after the long flight from Australia and was given my room immediately. I highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again.

Stayed here with some travel friends we had a great first time experiance with the company.
We arrived in the morning mary the receptionist was great she managed to find as a room and that was such a help as we were dead from all the air miles.
The room was a lot smaller than we are used to but had every thing you could need we had from fresh milk to all types of tea.The rooms were cleand every day water, tea bags, coffee, replaced every day. There is a small bar but its more of a consierge desk there are lots good pubs around. If you need help getting round or what to do alex the consierge is more than happy to help give you maps, info ect.As for breakfast yes it was the worst i have ever eaten the next day we were going to find some were else but were told buy alex that we can go to there sister hotel and have it there and could still use are vouchers so we did not have to pay the food and service was next to none. So if you have breakfast vouchers take the 2min walk its worth it. The best is that when we left the hotel we were at the airport in less than 40min.

Good location for concert at Hyde Park. Straight off the tube right next door, drop off cases and away. Check out at noon, meant a really good lie in the next day, heaven.

We stayed here because we had a morning flight from Heathrow the next day - on the count of location, this hotel cannot be faulted. It is opposite Paddington station. However, for what we paid, our rooms were terribly cramped. In our case, not enough room at the foot of the bed to place our bags and walk. I also came close to cutting my leg open on the end of the bed (while trying to squeeze through the bed and my bag) on the end of a staple holding fabric meshing to the bed base. Breakfast was also a letdown, being served in the Garfunkels chain restaurant located next door. A Garfunkels meal should not be inflicted upon anyone - not least by a hotel that claims it is four stars. Do not get the breakfast. There was also a slight question mark over the cleanliness of the bathroom.
