Everything about our stay was perfect. A nice bright room with good facilities and very comfortable beds. It was very quiet so we had a very good night's sleep. All the staff (reception, restaurant and housekeeping) were very efficient and professional. We checked in online so check-in and check-out were quick and completely painless. The hotel is well placed for many attractions, including Borough Market, theatres and galleries. The whole experience was perfect for us.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the back are very quiet - but they might all be as the (triple?) glazing is very good.

Okay hotel on south bank, close to Southwark Underground/Tube station, and in walking distance to Shakespeare’s Globe and Millennium Bridge.

The Superior Room with queen bed was tiny, and while that’s to be expected the furniture in the room takes up valuable space. So, don’t expect to put a whole lot of luggage in the room, even two average size pieces for two people didn’t leave us much space.

Otherwise the hotel is nice, in what seems to be a safe area, and as mentioned is easily accessible to Underground/Tube, London red busses, the Bankside Pier for ferries, and various pubs, all on foot. Do consider using the Tube and red busses throughout your stay, using pay as you go on an Oyster card. It’s convenient, safe, and clean.

The hotel does offer to schedule taxi cab pickups, which was great given we left at 4:30a to get to Paddington for a 5:10a Heathrow Express. The journey was about 20 minutes at that time of day.

Our issue: When we checked into our room after traveling across the country, we wanted to clean up a bit. Unfortunately the shower drain was clogged, and with the way the shower floor is designed, it sent water all over the bathroom floor. We had to use our towels to dry the floor. We called down and asked them to fix the drain. They did. Then we called and asked for more towels. They didn't bring more towels. We've now asked three and still have no towels, so we can't shower or even wash our hands in our room. Responsiveness in this hotel is great with maintenance, but terrible with housekeeping. .

The room: The room is smaller than it looks in pictures. There is absolutely no storage. There's barely anywhere to put the luggage. There were 4 hangers in the closet. If you travel with more than 4 shirts and like to take your belongings out of your luggage when you travel, this isn't going to be a match.

Room Tip: I would probably suggest a hotel room in a different hotel

Recommend highly, great spot in london if you want to visit borough market, also peaceful, restful, staff friendly and welcoming, rooms lovely, everything you need, we have stayed in a lot of hotels in london some even more up market than the mecure but you know what i would keep using the mecure from now, just is so informal and natural you can be yourself.
