“Great Location But Hotel Below Expectations”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2012

We were given room 723 upon arrival. The bathroom sliding door was off the track and could not be opened nor closed. The mini fridge in the room was filthy. We called the Reception Desk and reported these items and were given room 439.. When we settled our bags into the room we walked to a nearby grocery store to purchase some things that needed to be refrigerated in the mini fridge in the room. Upon return to our room we discovered the fridge was not cold, in fact it was turned off and we could not find a switch to turn it on. We reported this to Reception Desk and were advised that a maintenance staff person would come to fix the fridge. 1 1/2 hrs later we called Reception again and got a different staff person who advised that fridges are not included in our "standard room" and had been turned off because they were being removed. This was after we had purchased food that needed to be refrigerated. We happened to be in our room when housekeeping arrived and the cleaner advised that they do not replace the coffee cups and drinking glasses but wash them in the bathroom sink instead. The housekeeping supervisor came to check our room and when we told her about the coffee cups and glasses she said that was not supposed to be done and that they had a dishpan with disinfectant solution to wash these items before they are placed back in the room. The breakfast which was included free in our room charge was the best we have seen anywhere - buffet style with too many hot and cold choices to list, including brewed coffee instead of the usual instant served in England. Elisa in the Business Centre was extremely helpful by assisting us to check in online and print our airline boarding passes. Overall great, friendly service by the staff. Only 1 block to the Glouster Underground station and bus stop.

Room Tip: Our room 439 had a beautiful view of a small park with lovely trees and looked over a side street of...

We stayed for 5 nights at this hotel and enjoyed our stay. It is very well located to all the central London attratctions. Its very close to the Gloucester Road Tube. Very easy to get here if you hop on the picadilly line from Heathrow. There is a waitrose super market close by if you wanna grab something quick. The guys at the concierge at very helpful. The only thing I did not like is the Internet service. Its like 5 pounds an hr. Most Holiday Inn offer free internet for their customers.

Dear sridher11

Thank you for your time. I am so pleased that your time with us was enjoyable and convenient. The location of the Tube and local supermarkets close by are indeed extremely helpful, so I am pleased you were able to make sure of them. Thank you for your comments in regards to our Internet service, I will ensure this information gets fed back to our Management Team for their review. Thank you once again for your time and comments. My wife went on a conference there, so I joined her for a fantastic 4 days in sunny London.
This hotel is in a superb location, 1 block from Gloucester Road tube station, and from the street, where you can find fantastic breakfasts, large supermarket, pubs, restaurants, and the line of museums in just about 15 minutes walk (if you prefer).

Though spent much of the day out, hotel and room was nice, and staff was helpful and friendly. didn't take the breakfast which was quite expensive, and the paid WiFi is outrageous, thinking of this quite-standard service hotels tend to provide their guests with these days.

The tube on its 3 lines is a major advantage!

Dear Omer P

It sounds as if you had everything you could want for your stay in London just around the corner from the Hotel. I am very happy to hear this! I trust that this made your stay convenient and enjoyable. Hopefully next time you will have the opportunity to try out Breakfast Buffett which is well worth it. Thank you for your time and comments. This hotel is in a great location, direct tube from Heathrow to Gloucester Road tube station which is literally around the corner from the hotel. Also near the hotel is a Waitrose, Tesco express, Starbucks etc if you need to stock up on snacks etc.

We arrived in early and were given a room early which was unexpected, check in staff were friendly and efficient. We had a room on the 27th floor facing east and the view was amazing. The room itself was small but was fine for a weekend shopping trip. The bathroom was also small but again was fine. We ate in the resturant on the first night and the food was good, drinks though were really expensive, £10 for a (large) glass of wine and peanuts. Apart from that it was a great stay.

Room Tip: High floor facing east for amazing views

Was looking for an hotel choice in town to lodge during my business mission, near to the Piccadilly line in order to reach easily Heathrow airport for some meetings (as I preferred to avoid staying at the airport hotels). I'm always very happy when I stay at the Holiday Inn so I'm glad again having chosen this one in Kensington forum. The hotel is massive, I think it's about 25 stories building so expect to be quite crowded in the lobby but I'm happy with that. Got an upgrade to the Executive rooms which offer some little more comfort and amenities. The breakfast offers the usual selection of continental breakfast and the staff there is very very efficient considering the amount of people lodging regularly at this hotel. Haven't tried the lounge or the other services, planning to do that next stay.
