This Rosewood property is one of the best for a city location - "casual elegant" is an apt description.
Nestled away on a private street/courtyard (keep this in mind), this property blends old world with modern/"kitsch" touches -- including the house dog, the parakeets and the "bull dog."
The lobby is expansive -- welcoming, as is the staff.
There are a few eating/bar options:
-Scarfes is primarily a bar with great Indian "bar food"
-Mirrors dining room was where we enjoyed breakfast daily... Continental to full-service/a la carte
-Holbron dining room serves more traditional "English" fare.
Our room was a blend of traditional/upgraded English and modern... Great bed and linens, fab bathroom with tub/shower/hand shower, vanity mirror/table, ample closet and dresser space, large table for dining and/or work, full mini bar, safe, coffee maker and comp water service.
This may seem odd to some but what really impressed me was their appreciation of the "worldliness" of their guests. It was manifested in the diversity of the staff to the wall of electronic "adapters" to accommodate the "continents" of plugs!
In the end, at the high-end of hotels, it's not the "things" but the staff that make a place feel like home. From the cleaning ladies to the wait/bar/guest staff, Rosewood earns their stars!
* Remember upfront I mentioned the courtyard? On Sunday's, you walk into an open air market featuring fresh breads/meats/veggies to apparel to art! A real treat!More
