“Very good location, friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2012

Stayed here during New Years Eve. It was right on the street where they had the New Years Day parade. Although it is in the busy part of Piccadilly, surprisingly it was very quiet when you were tucked away in the hotel.

The rooms were clean, simple, modern, and chic. The hallways were a little dated. The lobby is gorgeous and since we were there during the holiday they had a HUGE beautiful Christmas tree.

The concierge service was knowledgeable and friendly. They were actually quite honest with us as tourists, which I greatly appreciate. The staff was always friendly, opening doors, and being polite.

The location is terrific. Next door to a starbucks and three or four stores from the subway.

I think the ONLY bad thing about the place was when we were on the floor, there are these stairs just one or two so it's not a smooth straight walk from the room to the elevator. It probably wouldn't bother most people, but when you have a large luggage to carry it can be a little bothersome. OR what if you are in a wheelchair?

We redeemed our SPG points and stayed here, it was definitely worth the value.

Dear Guest,

thank you for taking the time to post your feedback on TripAdvisor following your stay with us on New Year's Eve.

Our hotel is certainly right in the heart of things, any closer to Piccadilly and we would actually be on it. It therefore lends itself perfectly for exploring the sights of London, most of which are within easy walking distance - and for those that require a little more travelling, the main Piccadilly tube station is literally on our doorstep.

I was very pleased to see that you found our staff to be friendly and helpful at all times - it is after all the people in a hotel that often make the difference. Thank you for your positive feedback.

The building dates back to 1908 and as such has of course some quirks and unusual architectural features, including some steps between its Piccadily and Regent Street wing. Luggage assistance is of course always offered to our guests and wheelchair users can be sure that they will be allocated rooms that have step-free access.

New Year's Eve is certainly an important time to spend with friends and family, and I am delighted that we could contribute to make this time a pleasant one for you.

I very much hope that you will make many more visits to Le Méridien Piccadilly in the future.

Kind regards,

Oscar del Campo

If you are an spg member this is probably your best bet in central London.

Whilst many of the rooms are a little tired and small if you persevere you can find some decent rooms. We did have to try 3 separate rooms different floors before we found one that we could open our suitcase in - and we were staying for 2 weeks. Deluxe doesn't appear to make much difference however they do eventually recognise spg gold and platinum members (unlike the w)

Service is generally very good (unlike the w) and the breakfast is quite excellent in v ery pleasant surroundings.

The pool and gym are a little dated however this is one of the few hotels that have this service in central London.

All In all an ok hotel, good for it's location but not of a world class standard. It is only of particular note if you have stayed in other spg properties in central London and this is defiantly the best of a pretty bad bunch!

Room Tip: You really have to work hard to find a decent room. Deluxe aren't great. Club room seem worth it...

Dear JKlondon09,

thank you for taking the time to share your feedback on TripAdvisor following your stay at Le Méridien Piccadilly.

I was delighted to see that your rated the service provided by our staff highly and that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are very proud to be able to offer an excellent breakfast selection in our wonderful Terrace Restaurant with its glass roof allowing natural daylight to brighten the start of the day.

Room sizes do indeed vary as in most hotels in London, but I was pleased to see that we managed to find a room to your liking. Our Health Club not only offers state of the art equipment from Technogym but also boasts one of London's largest hotel swimming pools as well as two squash courts.

Dear JKlondon09, I very much hope to be able to welcome you again on your future visits to the capital here at Le Méridien Piccadilly.

Best regards,

Oscar del Campo

I was looking for a hotel in a really central position for a special birthday celebration and remembered Le Meridien from a previous stay some years ago.
I got a great rate on line so booked 4 rooms for our stay, then made the mistake of reading the numerous reviews on both Starwoods own site and also on Trip Advisor which nearly caused me to cancel the reservation. I'm so glad that I didn't.
Instead I got in touch with the hotel and explained the circumstances behind the booking and they were absolutely fantastic. There was prompt communication which was equally matched by the care and consideration given during our stay. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by a charming gentleman in reception (unfortunately I didn't note his name), through to the housekeeping staff and most particular of all, the help given by the P.A. to the General Manager - each in their own way contributed to make the stay a huge success.

All of our rooms were on the 7th floor which was great, 2 of them were club rooms on the front with views of the London Eye and 2 were de luxe one with side view and a large room overlooking the back with a really quirky layout. Beds were extremely comfortable and there were enough bad backs in the party for that to have been a real problem if that hadn't been the case. The floors did creak but that just seemed to add to the charm of a place that is very definitely not a one size fits all establishment.

Breakfast was fantastic, I can't comment as some do on the cost of it as it was part of our room rate. The variety and in particular the quality of the breakfast items was very good.
For people to say it was average or boring is far from the truth. There seemed to be something for all tastes with at least 4 large tables spread out with all manner of cereals, fruit, smoked salmon, a number of cheeses and cold meats with olives and other accompaniments, cooked breakfast of bacon, sausages, tomatoes, beans, mushrooms, hash browns and scrambled eggs (although other eggs like fried, boiled etc were available from the waiting staff) There were a number of different breads with many of them a cut yourself option, croissants and pastries. Countless juices, smoothies and shots, plus different teas and coffee plus chocolate. There were a lot of other items too numerous to mention plus a menu of side items some of which may have been chargeable, but was it average or boring - certainly not!

The birthday itself heralded cake and champagne which was a lovely and totally unexpected gesture which we enjoyed late afternoon.

My husband whose birthday it was used the Gym/Spa a couple of times which he enjoyed.

Lots of people speak about the fantastic position of the Hotel, it's perfectly placed for easy access to theatres and shops and was very definitely the right place for our party to be able to do all manner of different things without having to travel on buses, tubes and in taxis to do them.

We look forward to our next stay there, hopefully soon!

Room Tip: Choose a club room if available.

I stayed after a lapse of a couple a years (while on business to London) and was positively impressed by the upgraded, modern look and feel of the hotel and especially the rooms. True, the building is still old, the floors creaky, but the perfect location compensates for the minor deficits. Good room service menu and in- room entertainment system. One of my London favourites.
