I felt compelled to come out to see the Thames Barrier while visiting London. I had seen it so often featured in tv shows (MI-5, Doctor Who) and was impressed by the whole concept of it. Also, I wanted to get out on the water in London. The ferries are a wonderful way to get around, but the schedules and locations and pricing is baffling. However, we eventually managed to get there, and enjoyed the walk along the Thames, and were not disappointed with the sight of the huge barrier structure, gleaming in the sun. There is also a very basic cafe.
