Description: Lovers of Ethiopian cuisine and adventurous foodies will appreciate this bright, clean and modern restaurant in Camberwell that prides itself on its family recipes and dedication to authentic Ethiopian traditions. Zeret itself is a name that comes from a small village in northern Ethiopia, and the menu includes mostly chicken, lamb and beef stews made with butter, garlic and ginger served on pancake-like flatbread called enjera. All the food here is delicious, and the dining room is decorated with colourful placemats, potted palms and simple white walls. Perfect for communal/sharing meals with friends and family, the Zeret Kitchen has attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere don't miss the Ethiopian style chicken cooked with green chillies, herbs and spices.

Came here with my sister and this has to be the best Ethiopian restaurant in London! Fantastic service and food was AMAZING! Really home like, once you enter the restaurant you feel like you’re in Ethiopia. I think this is a family run business and I am so happy to have come here! Amazing service! Strongly recommend!

A gem of a place, within an area you would not expect to find a restaurant of this standard, and quality. It is worth the journey here for sure.

The service was excellent and the Waitresses were attentive and on the ball. They take your order quickly and are efficient with the speed of service which is good.

The ambience is nice also, with a soft tune playing, and the room dimly lit, to create an atmosphere that makes you relaxed but excited with what to expect on your journey there. The incence was a little over-bearing upon arrival, but something you get used to as the evening progresses, and it all adds to the atmosphere which is all good.

So onto the food. One word: Awesome. Ok two words. Fresh and awesome.

We ordered for a starter:

Kategna: a spicy home made baked bread. It comes in Pizza style slithers and served soft and at room temperature. This is worth ordering, as it was unique to what we have had before; a nice soft feel to it and some nice heat (but not too spicy.)

2x 'House Favourite Vegan Selection.'

This was served in a big dish, that was layered and covered with an Injeera Bread (soft, wheat like bread) which was then covered by a selction of vegan dishes: Split Lentils in Red Pepper Sauce, steamed and seasoned Green Lentils, steamed and seasoned vegetable selection, Chick Peas that are powdered and simmerd on a sauce, steamed Peas with Onions.

This was excellent. We would definitely get this again. A good size portion for 2 people also (we ordered 2 of the same thing don't forget - so it comes as an extra large portion.)

We rounded the Bill up to £30 all-in-all as service charge was not included. Not a bad price for a night out for 2.

Well worth the visit and don't hesitate to go.

Been to a few Ethiopian restaurants, this one was the best so far. Big flavours, got the sharing for two platter and it was perfectly symmetrically decorated and dished out, distinct flavours between dishes and really friendly people. Had a family feel to it. Reasonable price too!

I was doubtful about this place and the Ethiopian cuisine in general but I have to admit that the quality of the food is excellent, the concept is very attractive and the execution of the dishes is perfect!
Good combination of flavours without excesses! Staff is kind, friendly and efficient! Eating with your hands is an experience but you can always ask for cutlery... Ambient is standard with a nice background African music! If you are sceptical you must try to convince yourself..
