Description: Lovers of Ethiopian cuisine and adventurous foodies will appreciate this bright, clean and modern restaurant in Camberwell that prides itself on its family recipes and dedication to authentic Ethiopian traditions. Zeret itself is a name that comes from a small village in northern Ethiopia, and the menu includes mostly chicken, lamb and beef stews made with butter, garlic and ginger served on pancake-like flatbread called enjera. All the food here is delicious, and the dining room is decorated with colourful placemats, potted palms and simple white walls. Perfect for communal/sharing meals with friends and family, the Zeret Kitchen has attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere don't miss the Ethiopian style chicken cooked with green chillies, herbs and spices.

This place deserves all the accolades it gets! We're not experts but my wife and I love Ethiopean food and have been to at least a dozen different places throughout the years. After a few bites, we both looked at each other with a smile and almost simultaneously declared this the best tasting Ethiopean we've had. Very reasonable prices for a huge amount of amazing food, friendly and quick service, and a pleasant room to eat in - the very definition of a 5-star meal!

Having first tried Eritrean food in Borough Market and loved it, I have been meaning to visit Zeret Kitchen for months!

Look past the less-the-beautiful setting and you quickly realise this place is an absolute gem where we were welcome like family buy the warm and charming staff. Like many, we went for the Zeret Surprise; a delicious array of dishes all served on a huge injera bead.

Now I can hardly claim to be an expert on Eritrean food but, like most diners before me, thought that every dish was absolutely delicious - wonderfully cooked and the spices all perfectly balanced. All this was washed down with a very delicious and reasonably priced bottle of Malbec - probably not an authentic pairing but a very good one in my opinion! The communal act of eating with your hands adds to the warmth of this place as well.

If you come here make sure you also experience the tea ceremony - the heady scent of the incense and the delicious coffee are the perfect way to end a wonderful meal.

Lovely, simple, good quality and good value family run restaurant. Delicious food in good quantities with no cutlery needed! Give your hands a good wash before and prepare to get messy. Staff were friendly, nice ambience and the food was full of flavour and variety. I'd recommend the Zeret special for a true taste of Ethiopia. What a gem.

There's a reason that Zeret Kitchen is consistently listed amongst the best bargains in London. The amount of food for the price was amazing. We had beef, lamb and chicken, and several sides and each were savory and delicious. If you don't mind a little heat, order them spicy. Unique blending of spices and combinations of seasoning you might not have ever had before. Oh, and so you aren't quizzical like we were at first, there are no utensils. The food is served on a thin crepe like bread that you tear up and grab the offerings on your plate with. A truly unique experience and the service couldn't have been friendlier. If you like mead, try the honey wine that they make and bottle. It's sweetness went well with the spicy, savory food.

I was so pleased with our dinner at Zeret. We ordered the Zeret Surprise for 5 people and there was so much variety in the dish that you could not be displeased. The beef and chicken were something to write home about!
Food aside, the staff were some of the sweetest people I have ever met in London. Zeret is definitely worth a visit!
