Loved this funky, quirky hotel complete with a gorgeous rooftop pool!

The rooms are small but perfectly decorated and the shower (complete with steam function) was just incredible!

Great location, very stylish and highly recommended!

Stayed at the hotel for two nights on a weekend break with my partner. Its well located for the nightlife in Shoreditch and Spittalfields Market. Service on the whole was quite good and attentive during my stay. The rooms are quite moody and also quite small save for the shower and toilet which appears overly large compared to the rest of the room. Our room was a courtyard view on the fist floor albeit the courtyard view consisted of a limited view of some astroturf which wasn't the most desirable view. It was reasonable value fore money but if I returned to the area would probably try the Montcalm or Nobu.

Room Tip: Courtyard Room 228 doesn't have a great view.

Staff are very nice & helpful. Standard room is small, but quality decoration. Bath robes and slippers. Tea/coffee facilities. Bed very comfortable. The bathroom is large double sink, only a shower. But shower is also a steam one. Takes 6-8 to warm up. Hotel needs to put in a plastic folding chair so you can sit & enjoy the steam bath!
There is a very small heated pool on roof and a nice bar & restaurant. Service not super if you a big group, slow and got the order wrong.
Plus housekeeping didn’t replace the small milk/creamers. I made coffee and called them and yes we will send some to your room. I made 5 calls in 20 mins, coffee got cold and when they arrived. I got 2 small cow jugs - milk & cream. Not what I asked for. Plus I had to make a new pot of coffee.
Not good service for a supposed 5 star hotel!

Me and my partner recently stayed at the Curtain for one night and it was appalling. We arrived just before 5pm and attempted to check in, we were due to pay on arrival including an additional £50 deposit, they clearly had issues with their systems which were showing the payments as rejected and proceeded to take the payment 3 times, all 3 payments went through the bank resulting in us being £1000 down, whilst they tried to sort the problem with the bank they checked us in, we arrived at our room to find it hadn't been cleaned from the previous guests, by this time it had gone well past 5pm (bearing in mind check in was from 3pm) after a conversation with the manager he showed us to a new room and assured us he would sort out the bank and money situation, kindly he offered us some drink tokens for the lido bar.
We went up to the bar and on a number of occasions showed the waitress our tokens for the drinks and asked if she needed them to which she didn't. Upon leaving we were chased through the bar into our lift where a member of staff forced the doors from closing and accused us of not paying for our drinks, we said we had tokens and that we had tried to give the tokens to the waitress, they did apologize and we went on our way.
The next morning at 9:45am housekeeping constantly knocked on the door waking me and my partner up to come in and clean the room, two issues with this, we were only staying one night so housekeeping wouldn't be needed and also check out was midday, she did ask us when we were going so she could come do the room.
Having said all this the hotel is lovely and the room was quirky as was the lido bar. A special mention to Anton the manager who was fantastic and really helpful he was just let down by the other staff.
I have stayed in a number of hotels and previously worked in one and never have I ever experienced this before, The Curtain is 5* and we were embarrassed and treated terribly, which I do not expect from a hotel of this calibre.

Hi Emma,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share these comments about your visit here on TripAdvisor. We aim for every guest staying with us to leave with new positive experiences and only fond memories. That we failed on this occasion is terribly disappointing and we would like to extend our deepest apologies.

Your experience of our service is not in line with the high standard that we, normally, pride ourselves on. The feedback on the payment issue, housekeeping, your visit to the bar and the disturbance in your room in the morning is being thoroughly investigated and we will make sure that any similar scenarios will not occur in future.

Thank for your very kind comments about the hotel itself, your room, LIDO and the help received from Anton, the feedback is greatly appreciated and we know, for sure, that your words will put a big smile on Anton’s face.

Please, again, accept our apologies for not providing the expected experience. We hope that when life brings you back to Shoreditch you will give us a second chance to show you what The Curtain is really all about. If you’d like to return please contact us directly and we promise to spoil you.

Wishing you a lovely day,
The Curtain Team

Beautiful hotel in a fun neighborhood. Lots of restaurant options in the area. The room was quite small but beautifully decorated and comfortable. We had an issue when we ate at the Red Rooster which was immediately dealt with by the hotel manager and much appreciated. The rooftop is a beautiful area to lounge and grab drinks. We would definitely stay here again!
