Owner description: Situated in the Cavern Quarter at the heart of the city. Liverpool's most famous street not only houses the Cavern Club but numerous references and connections to the "four lads who shook the world" and Liverpool's long musical heritage. There's shopping, bars and pubs, and come summer weekends the street is packed with partying locals and tourists.

Several bronze statues - great fun to take pictures with them! Tons of bars, several restaurants and gift shops. During the day it is absolutely fine, but after dark it seems that the drunk people multiply by 10. Also, before heading down to Mathew Street - check if either Everton or Liverpool soccer teams lost that day. It can dramatically change the atmosphere.

Spent hours roaming around here with my girls as it was my hen do.

So many great bars. Such a friendly and welcoming place.

It really is the best city in the world.

Having eagerly savoured all the Beatles links here many times ourselves over the years, we called for the first time in ages as we had a teenage German student staying with and said it was a 'must' on any visit to Liverpool - but, even at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon, the street was teeming with crowds of stag and hen revellers and it made for a nasty, seedy, intimidating experience and we couldn't get away quick enough. I fear that, more than 40 years after the original Cavern was sadly demolished because there was no proper appreciation of the Beatles' lasting influence in the decade before John Lennon's death, the great history of Mathew Street is in danger of drowning in a flood of lager and cocktails.

Full of tourist just like me, looking at all the shops in this street. Starting at the Caven and the pub next door to all the shops and gift shops.
