“Great Hosts, Great Location, Great Value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2012

We booked the Lucena for our first visit to Blackpool for many years and we were not disappointed. The hotel's owners, Richard and Lynn, both of whom are qualified chefs could not have ben more helpful and welcoming. They have owned the hotel for ten years and they have many clients who return year after year which says a lot.
The hotel is situated in a quiet street just off the seafront and roughly in between the pleasure beach and the Blackpool Tower, and our front bedroom had sea views. Although there is no parking space Richard arranged for two spaces for ourselves and two other guests right outside the hotel which was really helpful.
Our en suite bedroom was clean and tidy with a huge king size bed and a clean functional bathroom with shower and toilet.
The well stocked hotel bar was comfortable and the prices very reasonable. Richard and Lyn told us that that they have entertainment in the high season, and the odd group of senior guests have provide their own cabaret.
A wide choice of breakfast was available by order in the dining room, cooked to perfection and served to the table. What a nice change from overcooked food at breakfast buffets.
£25 per night per person was good value and we would return again to stay with Richard Lyn.
The Lucena is not one of the bland chain hotels run by indifferent staff, but a small friendly hotel (24 rooms) well managed by great hosts who go that extra mile to make sure you enjoy your break.
Ideal for couples, small groups or anyone wanting good value, great hosts, good food and and personal service.

Family of six, elderly aunt,3 teenagers, wife and I booked a last minute trip to see the lights. I phoned up at 21:00hrs th night before and the phone was answered by a warm welcoming voice asking if they could help. We arrived the next evening, we pulled up outside off loaded the aunt and kids while Lynn showed them to the rooms,Richard her husband took us to a place were we could park for free and close by. The rooms are very clean and warm. Breakfast was what you wanted, with no limits to hot drinks and toast, after the day out we returned and had a lovely time chatting with Richard and other guests in the bar (the prices did not break the bank),kids played pool in the games room. Will be sure to stay next time we are visiting Blackpool will not risk such short notice next time we could not be so lucky again .

richard and lynn are the best hotel owners I know, I have been going there since they owned it in 2003 and they are so friendly and helpful, the rooms are a good size and very clean. The breakfast is of excellent quality and is prepared on time. The bar has drinks for everyone at reasonable prices and there is also a games room with a pool table and darts board.
