Description: If the Lakes are the jewel in the crown of Britain’s countryside then Miller Howe must be the Queen. Why? Because this restaurant is wearing that jewel well. With the most stunning views possible over the beautifully English Lake Windermere, you probably wouldn’t notice if you were sat on a polyester sofa and served up a Kwiksave ready meal. However, take your eyes off the windows for just a moment and you’ll notice that the surroundings are comfortable, good looking and with somehow more than a little taste of Italy. Although A La Carte options are available, most diners will delight in the Set Menu which boasts the very finest dishes using quality British ingredients.

We had an amazing experience for a late lunch on New Year's Eve. There were only 2 other lunch parties in the restaurant and both the Manager and the waitress were excellent and very attentive without being intrusive.
The food was excellent, beautifully presented and extremely tasty.
Needless to say the view from our table was wonderful and as the weather was fast changing, this had an interesting impact on the landscape. We will be back!

We booked this restaurant through Open Table as we were very late in booking and it was available! Safe to say we were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived as we didn't expect such a level of service. The canapés in the bar area and drinks were fabulous. The menu was fairly small but delicious, I would have eaten everything on there. The service was of a very high standard, food was outstanding as was the wine and coffee in the lounge afterwards. We were also pleasantly surprised by the price for the value, we paid £150 for 2 people, 3 courses, coffee, a bottle of wine plus a drink in the bar, it was definitely worth that if not more. We will definitely be back to stay hopefully and dinner once again, they made my birthday feel very special. The atmosphere is not so much a relaxed one but it adds to the special feel.

We had an evening meal at Miller Howe on the last night of our holiday. Upon arrival we were seated in the lounge and it was very quiet with only a few others around. For a while we felt a little 'out of place', it's very upmarket and classy and on first impression seemed a little... 'stuffy'. My wife asked if there were any other vegetarian options (other than mushroom dish), to which the waiter discussed with the chef and came back with two alternatives which was very good service. You're presented with two canapes whilst waiting in the lounge, one a crispy pork skin and another with duck - though would've been nice if one was vegetarian.
Upon entering the main restaurant we felt a lot more at ease and the room has a great view over the lake, though it was pitch black so couldn't see anything! We were treated to an amuse bouche of celeriac & puffed rice espuma which was very light and tasty. We both had a cauliflower veloute (soup) to start along with some delicious breads. For main, I had the lamb which was very good. We both had the cherry mousse to finish which was the perfect end. They also have a good selection of cocktails, I had a cherry negroni which was decent.
Overall, after developing a probably unfair first impression, it was a fantastic meal. Very pricey though at £47.50 per person. The staff were very nice and kindly ordered a cab for us whilst we waited in the lounge. Definitely recommend.

I was introduced to Miller Howe by a friend who had stayed there many times. Then I read a bunch of really negative reviews but from 3-4 years ago. I am glad to report it is back on track. We arrived to a warm welcome and were soon sitting with a glass of prosecco and an attractive menu. On choosing no problem about mixing and matching options. We had Ham hock and then Caesar salad plus nice bottle gigondas. Good food and wine not a rip off. Cannot comment on dinner menu but based on our lunch we would give it a go

This little gem is worth a visit but book in advance. The cocktails are creative and the wine will pretty good. Food is good but not an very expansive choice. It is a small dinning area and the bar area is typical decor. We did not stay at the hotel so not comment on that.
