It's a fairly demanding walk up to Orrest Head, especially if one is over 40 and it's sunny!!! However, the views from the top are lovely and what is especially pleasing is that there are very few glimpses on the way up so the impact is even more impressive. Welcome benches at the top and plenty of nice places to grab a glass at the bottom. Thoroughly recommended.

Follow the signs from the main road near Windermere station. The walk up is steep at times but viewpoints give an excuse to catch your breath! At the end of the path you suddenly get a 360 degree view opening up.

If you are staying at the Windermere then pop up and enjoy the views. A bit of a climb but worth it.

Took the path to the right of the winfpdermere hotel after walking up from bowness, its signposted from the road there and you make your way up a muddy stones lane to a gate through a field, you then follow it through a wood which a 17 and 9 year old boy enjoyed and arrived at the top wpquite quickly, the views from the top were fab towards scafell pike and all around, very enjoyable walk up and back, from bowness to orrest head and back about 5 miles,

Walked with my family - 2 kids of 10 & 7. Easy to get to the viewpoint from the start in about 20 mins. We carried on and did about 3 miles to circle back.
