After a hectic weekend we arrived at the Gilpin to an oasis of calm. The warm, friendly and efficient reception by front of house staff made us feel like we had arrived “home”. Our room was beautiful, light and luxurious, adding to the feeling of calm.
Dinner in HriSHi was outstanding. Art on a plate and a feast for the eyes which was taken to another dimension by the flavours and textures. Overall, an amazing team with an amazing product.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful.

Our experience at Gilpin Hotel and Lake House was excellent all around - even when things went wrong they made them right very quickly.

When we arrived we were met at the door and our bags (and car!) were whisked away and we were invited in. Following a quick bite to eat we were then ushered to our Spa Lodge where we would spend the next two evenings.

The Spa Lodge is very well kitted out with an integrated sound system that means to can listen almost anywhere you are in the lodge, including the hot tub.

There are electric blackout blinds which are great but, unfortunately, our decided to give up not long after we arrived. The blinds could not be fixed whilst we were there - not ideal for privacy! - but the hotel arranged to have curtains put up in the room and brought us a bottle of bubbles for the hassle. Very thoughtful.

The hot tub was the main attraction with this room and we went in quite a few times; really atmospheric with the lighting at night as well.

Views from the room were fab with a little pond just outside allowing you to get lost in the natural elements.

Food at the restaurants was also excellent although we did prefer Hrishi over the Gilpin spice both in offerings and service. Neither left us with a sour taste but we told all of our friends and colleagues about Hrishi!

We will definitely be back at this hotel - probably sooner rather than later. In fact... let me see what is available for November!

Absolutely gorgeous spa lodge! This was our third trip to the Gilpin and it was fantastic from start to finish. From arrival the staff are wonderful, drinks and food are delicious, attention to detail perfect. Spa lodge is immaculate with everything you could wish for. Would highly recommend.

Arrived Friday about 5.30 after a really busy stressful week & was welcomed in such a lovely manner. Dubious about going to the hotel initially but got to say all reservations disappeared straight away. The decor is beautiful, we normally like a more contemporary style but the traditional but not over fussy ambiance was relaxing, comfy and so tasteful. Our room was lovely, super comfy bed & fluffy towels. Shower a little dated but did the job. Could have done with bath salts - but that’s being picky.
On the Friday night we dined at Spice. Totally fantastic !!! So much so, that although we had a reservation for the Michelin star restaurant on the Saturday night, we chose to go back to Spice. Not enjoyed a meal that much in a while. Everything was perfect.
The staff are lovely, friendly, attentive and efficient and although we don’t know the names (sorry) the lady with the short dark hair with the poorly foot, the Romanian gentleman behind the bar and the lovely man who seemed to be in charge at Spice - were all exceptional.
We left the hotel, relaxed (a little hungover) and wanting to go back. Definitely recommend. We know the Lakes well and stay regularly - we will definitely revisit.
Thanks also to Mr & Mrs R. Never met people like you, interesting, different and definitely entertaining.

Location, gardens, afternoon tea, service all exceptional. Calm and relaxing place to meet a friend or treat the family. Food good. Ample parking. Well worth a visit for either afternoon tea of the curry restaurant (Spice).
