“Perfect central location”
Reviewed 2 June 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Visited with my Mum for a week towards the end of May.

Great location within walking distance of the lake and the town centre. Close to lots of other towns amenities in the area. Ambleside, Bowness, ferry to Coniston all walkable (if keen walkers) and perfect for cycling. Lots of lovely coffee shops and restaurants in Windemere itself and Bowness.

The cottage itself had all the amenities we needed for our stay. Bob the owner lived just next door, so was on hand, but didn't impose at all on our stay - something which was really nice as not all owners are like this! The driveway was quite steep, so not advisable if you have mobility problems. Lovely decking area for sitting outside and loved the views from the dining table.

Just a few suggestions for future guests - would have liked to have hand towels; only large bath sheets provided. It might be an idea to trim back the trees so that the lake can be seen from the decking area. The cups and kettle could do with updating in the kitchen and possibly a bigger bin? These are just some very small pointers which we thought might help improve.

Would like to visit again! Thank you!

“A lovely cottage in a great location”
Reviewed 2 June 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Stayed for 3 nights at Birthwaite Cottage. The cottage itself is lovely and cosy, perfect for two people and had good facilities throughout. We really appreciated the little bottle of milk left for us in the fridge - a lovely welcoming touch. The only little niggle was the wifi which we could not connect to, however since it was a little getaway to the Lakes this was a good excuse to detox from our phones and the online world! Cottage located in a really great location, 5-10 minutes walk to Windermere centre and a central spot for walking the mountains.

“Charming, comfortable, well-located cottage for two.”
Reviewed 17 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Nice place, very well located being close to Windermere town centre and the lake, and a good place for travelling for walking on the fells. But, unfortunately, kitchen implements are very inadequate for cooking and serving meals.

“A quiet and comfortable break”
Reviewed 2 May 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Lovely little cottage, perfect for two. Down at the end of a quiet road, passing large houses with beautiful gardens. Well equipped with most of what you may need. We would have found a small paring knife useful to peel our apples so bring your own if necessary. Owner lives next door and is very helpful. He even gave us a lift back to the station at the end of our stay. Took us 20 minutes to walk from the station, but we're oldies so you young ones will do it quicker.
