“A comfortable stay in a lovely location.”
Reviewed 11 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

This is a very spacious and light bungalow just a short walk from Ambleside. The location is quiet and within easy reach of some fantastic scenery. Our stay was comfortable and once inside the bungalow it worked successfully for our daughter who is in a wheelchair.

“Great place in the hills behind the waterfalls!”

Nice and cosy place, really enjoyed the fireplace in the living room, kept everyone warm during the cold rainy weather. Rooms are all very clean and tidy on arrival, kitchen was well equipped with utensils. Word of advice, could do with more complimentary sugar for the teas and coffee as 6 packets of sugar wasn't enough to share between 6 people having a brew. Also the hot water tap on the bath tub is abit slow at generating hot water for a bath, turn the tap on too much and you get warm water, turn it on low, you get hot water but you're gonna be waiting a good while for that hot bath that is needed after a long day of walking in the cold and rain. Overall it's a wonderful place to stay for location wise as next to the waterfalls, warm and cosy, well equipped, clean and tidy. Thank you Rani for having us. Will definitely come again in the future

“Convenient and cosy”
Reviewed 8 November 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We stayed in this bungalow for a family trip to the Lakes with two young boys. It suited us nicely. It is very close to Ambleside shops & restaurants although the hill into town is *extremely* steep (it is the Lakes after all!). The bungalow wasn't decorated to our taste but it was spotless and spacious, and when we had a problem with the heating the local lady was out the same day to fix it.

Two things to be careful of: the gateway to the drive is very narrow, (our Ford SMax only just scraped through, anything bigger wouldn't fit and there is zero on-road parking). Also, the cottage is listed as "wheelchair accessible" on Tripadvisor, but we didn't agree as we had to lift our son's wheelchair up a step to go in either the front or back door, plus there is a small internal step to the dining room. Not a big problem for us, but do be wary if you require accessible accommodation.

Thanks Catherine for your kind remarks. "Wheelchair accessibilty " was recommended by the VISIT ENGLAND Inspector but I fully appreciate your dilemma of having to lift the wheelchair. We have corrected this feature and hopefully no one else will have this experience.
The driveway is narrow, I agree but even I can manoeuvre our
BMW X5 in and out believe me! Nevertheless we will take your comments seriously as there is ample parking space for 2 cars especially with the restricted parking situation throughout The Lake District.
We are indeed very happy that you have had a great holiday despite these shortcomings!! I would welcome you back ( circumstances permitting) as you have indeed been super guests to host. Kind regards Rani

“Great property for families in a great location.”
Reviewed 1 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

The property was clean throughout with a very well-equipped kitchen. Whilst it isn't a luxurious property, the beds are very comfy, showers work well and there is plenty of space for a family of five. The location is excellent - 5 min walk to the centre of Amberside with lots of amenities and 15 mins drive to Windermere. We have had a lovely holiday and the property has served us well. Thank you.
