“Simply perfect!!!”
Reviewed 6 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

The owner of Toddles Barn - Joanne made us feel very welcome. Joanne was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, she even gave us directions over the phone when the sat nav couldn't quite find Toddles Barn, Thank you Joanne and i have to say you were right about the locally produced sausage, we even bought some to take home ;-)

Upon arrival we were greeted with a fully made log fire all we had to do was light it, plenty of logs were there to keep us going for the weekend. Tea, coffee, milk and a cake were left for us and was very much appreciated after a long drive i was ready for a brew and the cake was delicious

The barn has been converted to a very high standard with traditional stone flooring, roll top bath and exposed beams in the living room, original features have been restored with a lot of care and attention, the photos just don't do it justice!! The bed rooms were lovely and spacious and the beds comfortable and we had everything that we needed

We had a lovely stay despite the rain and i would definitely stay again, the only criticism to be made is that my son repeatedly banged his head on the beams, he is 6 foot tall, I'm 5'6 and was fine so taller people may find it a problem apart from that it was simply perfect

Thank you for the review and the kind comments, I really have tried to make the barn a place to hopefully enjoy. I am so sorry about your son banging his head, I do try to make people aware of the beams before booking and all the downstairs rooms are all fine.
I wouldn't change it because then it wouldn't have the character - maybe I will have to provide hard hats, i'm 5ft 8" and ok on two but not the other two.
Glad for the feedback and hope you both got home safely

Best wishes

Joanne

“Perfect for 3 couples”
Reviewed 28 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

This property was booked as a surprise 50th birthday present and I can say it was a perfect gift.

Our group consisted of three couples who stayed for three nights. We found the barn conversion to be clean, well equipped, spacious, light, cosy and decorated to a high standard.

The ownerJoanne was pleasant and helpful and made sure we had enough logs for the lovely log burner.

Location wise there was one pub in the village and the location is an easy driving distance to Ulleswater, Penrith and Keswick.

I would definitely recommend this property.

Thank you, we have tried to provide everything what we feel will make a perfect place to stay and hopefully all you need to bring is the food and drink. The barn has a very special, relaxing feel for such needed breaks from the hectic lives we all lead and being so close the the M6 means you can soon get away from it all. I'm glad you all enjoyed your stay.

“Excellent cottage in beautiful surroundings.”
Reviewed 13 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

We stayed for 4 days in Toddles Barn at the start of our half-term. The cottage is even more beautiful than on the pictures and finished to a very high standard. Joanne was very warm and welcoming and left us lots of information about the local area, as well as a lit wood burner and a local cake on our arrival. The cottage was so warm, which was great to come back to after a hike round one of the nearby lakes, and the kitchen was well-equipped which suited us all as we cooked each night. I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants some luxury as well as a cottage experience, and it's very easy to drive to the lakes and mountains, Penrith and Keswick from Skelton. I hope we'll be back before long!

“Beautiful cottage, great location”
Reviewed 4 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We stayed at Toddles Barn across the New Year week and had a lovely time. The cottage is beautifully decorated to a high standard and well equipped with everything you would need.

The location is very good and we did not have to travel too far to find plenty to do. This included trips to Penrith, Abbott Lodge Jersey ice cream farm, Rheged and Kendal. Our daughters' (aged 7yrs & 3yrs) favourite day was the walk from the cottage along the footpath through the (muddy) fields to Unthank with a stop at the Upfront Gallery coffee shop.

We got a very friendly welcome from the owner and a lovely welcome pack of local produce.

We look forward to hopefully coming back to stay again soon, possibly in the summer months to use the cottage as a base for exploring/walking in the Northern Lakes.

“Stylish, comfortable and spacious - a perfect pace to stay”
Reviewed 16 December 2015 for a stay in December 2015

We stayed at Toddles barn for 5 days as we were visiting family near by. Joanne was SO helpful, it was really appreciated. The barn has been converted to a very high standard. It is spacious, light and still has a cosy feel. The bedrooms are comfortable spaces and the showers are really good quality. They have obviously put a lot of thought into the whole place. Skelton is a very pretty village with good access to the North Lakes and Carlisle. It has a terrific agricultural show every year and this would be a great place to stay if you were going. Couldn't recommend highly enough.
