I live locally and this is one of my favourite pubs in Keswick. The keep a great selection of Cumbrian Ales which changes constantly. The only beer fro outside Cumbria is of course Wainwrights from Thwaites of Blackburn.
The food is great and we eat there regularly,
Great Pub all round....if you can get in!!

Had a long lunch consisting of several local beers and hot beef baguette and fries. Staff were great and made to feel really welcome. Definitely go back on next trip to Keswick. A pub with food not a restaurant

Simple lunchtime hot pulled pork and cold coronation chicken baguettes. Tasty enough though the latter could have done with a bit more chicken. Nice chips and dressed side salad.

Decent beer choice for small bar. Staff functional rather than friendly.

We had the special which was he roast beef on sourdough. We had a side of chips which were delicious! The roast beef was perfect and melted in your mouth.
The beer was super with discount for Camra members.

Having read lots of excellent reviews, and wanting a pub grub pie during my visit, this had great reviews. Despite it being a busy Easter Sunday night we managed to get a table straight away, I checked if there was pie left as it was about an hour before they stopped serving food and I didn't want to be disappointed, fortunately there was. The pie was beautiful with thick chunks of beautiful tender steak in a thick and tasty gravy encased in crispy, not too thick pastry. The husband had a burger and said it was one of the nicest he'd had. The pie came with veg with was fine, and chips which were ok.
