Just stayed here for a Hen weekendFeb 26/27 the barn is very spacious and comfortable, it was spotlessly clean and well equipped .the owners Joe and Wendy are friendly and helpful and the Alpaca encounter was fabulous it made my weekend ❤️. The barn was easy to find and although the lane is a tiny bit hairy to negotiate at times we had no-trouble getting there in the dark. All in all I 100% recommend this place and hope to return sometime.
Lovely place for a relaxed family holiday over Christmas/New Year period. Accommodation was of a very high standard. Very clean. Large kitchen. Lovely decent sized bedrooms. Owners very friendly and the children enjoyed feeding the Alpacas.

I found Simgill farm on Owners direct, while looking for a suitable cottage to fit 14 adults for a surprise 30th birthday weekend. The owner, Wendy was very helpful and she called me after I'd booked - she and her daughter Jennifer replied to all my emails throughout efficiently and were very lovely and helpful - so we had high expectations before we set off.
We stayed for 2 nights in November, in Gillside barn - 2 of our party arrived from Scotland and were allowed to check in earlier so they can decorate the house.
When we arrived, we could not believe just how beautiful the entire farm and our house was. I stayed at many apartments and cottages also and too often the owners decorate and furnish with the cheapest available things, to keep costs down - this is not the case at Simgill farm. Every single thing is beautifully appointed and finished to the highest standard. Every bedroom has a different colour scheme with matching cushions, throws and curtains. The entire ' barn' is on 3 levels, with a very spacious, modern and fully equipped kitchen, living room, dining room and loo on the ground level, 3 bedrooms and a bathroom on the lower level and a further 3 bedrooms including one ensuite and a family bathroom on the upper floor. The beds, the towels, the bedding - everything was comfortable and just amazing. My description could never do justice to how brilliant the entire place was. WiFi also worked with bo issues, despite of the amount of devices that were connected up to it.
We also visited the alpacas, which was one of the highlights of the trip, Wendy and Joe kindly allowed us in among the animals and let us feed them and explained a lot about keeping them. They are ever so tame and well behaved, they let us walk in between them with no issues - 62 alpacas all in all, of all colours and ages. Very lovely indeed.
The birthday girl for whom we organized the surprise trip loved every second of our stay - this farm is like a little piece of paradise. It is literally in the sticks, with Kendal about 20 minutes drive away, but coming from busy lives in Birmingham and Glasgow, it's exactly what we needed. Lovely hills, quiet, tranquil surroundings and a luxury cottage. All 14 of our group want to return and I have recommended Simgill farm to every person who asked about the trip. Thank you and see you again.
If you are travelling in a large group and want to stay somewhere which is perfect then look no further.
I travelled with a group of 16 women for a hen party. All the bed rooms were spotless, very comfy with plenty of space. The living area and kitchen had everything you need.
The views are spectacular and the area is so peaceful.
The cottage never felt crammed even with 16 of us in the living room.
I would 100% recommend this cottage. Any questions I had the owners were very quick to respond and were happy to help with anything we needed.
