“Quality and calm”

All you could wish for in this superb property. A very high standard in all areas. It was the ideal base for exploring the nearby Lake District. The prices are supported by the quality.

“Attention to detail is everything”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

This is very much top end accommodation at very competitive prices.

The cottages are beautifully renovated/built with attention to the tiniest detail and no expense spared in ensuring that guests have the very best possible experience. As an example, we stayed in a one bed cottage with our two young children. We expected a sofa bed, but the cottages are furnished with pull down beds built into the wall, all with the same very comfortable mattresses that are used for the main rooms. Bathrooms are fantastic with huge baths, water heated by ground source heat pumps, in keeping with the low environmental theme to the collection of rooms.

Richard and jan were excellent and attentive hosts, and I genuinely got the impression that nothing would have been too much trouble. Guests would be strongly advised to take advantage of the dining room and bar- food was truly fantastic, well presented and a labour of love. We ate beautiful local rib of beef which was great, and the Cumbrian breakfast including haggis should be tried by all. Prices for the food and drink we're more than reasonable- surely currently underpriced considering the cost and time put into the meals, The Hyning estate has even invested in an outdoor wood-fired pizza oven, for that genuine authentic Neapolitan crust.

Location is good for arriving, only few minutes off the M6, but is a 20 minute drive from the start of the more obvious tourist attractions. For us, this did not detract from the break whatsoever.

We sincerely look forward to returning here, will recommend it to friends, and next time will ensure we have booked all our meals in advance-sadly we missed the Saturday night curry night!

“High-Standard of accommodation”
Reviewed 29 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We stayed in the Carriage House. The property was fantastic. Really high-end fixture and fittings and included everything we needed/wanted.
The location is lovely and so quiet and all tourist attractions of the Lakes are fairly close (20-30mins drive away). Popping to Kendal is very convenient for supermarket shopping.
Would definitely highly recommend The Hyning Estate.
The bar was a lovely touch as well as the cinema nights on certain days.
Really loved the fact that it was very quiet inside the property too. (great triple-glazing).
It is the perfect place to escape to!
