Wonderful food as always, lovely friendly staff. Great location just off motorway.
Never fails to deliver. Would not hesitate in going back to this hotel or recommending the hotel to anyone. Hotel very busy on the Saturday night {young farmers coming in} but staff coped well but could have done with a few more bar staff on.

Room Tip: rooms at the back of hotel

Wonderful food, friendly service, traditional country setting, good value. All in all can't fault the dining experience. Would definitely recommend the carvery, really generous with the meat and were bringing out fresh. Sent up a table at a time too so no standing around in a queue.

Initial disappointment as I discovered the night before my drive from London that the restaurant would be closed after 9pm. So a service station McDonalds was a last resort. On arrival the main entrance is hidden from view. Initially presented with staff smoking to the rear of the pub/bar area and a bin enclosure. This is all far removed from the imagery presented on the booking site. Once I had found the entrance to the hotel I succumbed to the musty and dank smelling reception area. This theme continued throughout the lobby and ground floor areas with distinctly tired looking carpets also. On entering my room it became clear that all was not well at this establishment. The toilet had hair and other matter present under the lid. The duvet cover had some kind of encrusted residue on its edge, which would face the user. The carpets were clean but tired looking and very compacted. The mirror in the bathroom was cock-eyed and needed re securing to the wall. The TV set 'attached' to a wall bracket/arm also appeared to be holding on for dear life. The bathroom wall tiling was an unappealing peach tone and had signs of mildew and mould amongst the grouting. A very eighties/early nineties vibe. The vast majority of people using the hotel on my stay were pensioners and the dated décor and musty ambience seemed, sadly, an appropriate fit.
On a positive note the staff were friendly and attentive. The breakfast was of reasonable quality apart from the greasy deep fried hash brown. The location is good if you want to avoid town and stay near the motorway.

We booked literally at the last minute (we were supposed to be camping on a coast to coast trip but were soaked through) and the hotel was brilliant. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the room was great too.

Sadly this hotel is very disappointing. It looks really lovely from the outside and we had been really looking forward to trying it out. Inside it is bland and dull, no pleasure being there. The food we equally poor and again gave no pleasure. The drinks were fine, but the whole experience was one of 'wish we hadn't bothered - if only the interior matched the exterior.
