Booked Roger Ground House along with Hawshead Hideaway for our extended family from my 90 year old father to my 2 year old grandson. I've got to say the house was perfect, beautiful house, beautifully cleaned. Bathrooms spaced out for every ones privacy, bedrooms lovely, with one just perfect for my father, who has limited mobility, being just up 4 steps. And of course the Hideaway for me and my partner to escape aged parents and small grandchildren after days out with them all. Cannot fault anything. I just need a quite weekend away now tho.
This amazing find in Hawkeshead was exactly as advertised. The property oozed charm and period features and provided lots of space for our two familes and respective dogs. The quality of furnishings and attention to detail by the owner (lots of helpful notices) really allowed us to enjoy our stay and to feel at home almost instantly. The flexibility of kings to twins was perfect for our mix of boys/girls and teenagers. The location was perfect just a short ramble from the back gate to the centre of Hawkeshead and all it has to offer - our favourite spot for food / drinks and a friendly welcome the Queens Head. Walks straight from the back garden were a real bonus with Tarn Hows and Latterbarrow great for the whole family. Fishing at Esthwaite was also a real find and just 1 mile away. Fantastic tuition from Jim for the children with the bonus of delicious hot chocolates to keep you warm. We will return to ramble and fish again!!!
A beautiful house that was perfect for our large family gathering. The garden is enclosed and was perfect for our dogs and two young grandchildren to play in safely. Many lovely walks from the house - no need to drive. The house is very well equipped and was large enough for us all to relax in. The two sitting rooms meant that we could all spread out in comfort or contain the grandchildren in one and enjoy the peace and quiet in the other! The beds were incredibly comfortable and I wish I'd checked the brand label on the master bed as it was the best I've ever slept in. Highly recommended.
A simply beautiful cottage ideally located within walking distance of Hawkshead. Immaculate inside with lovely gardens, we would go back there in instant.
We were lucky enough to visit for a wedding in July, but I really can't imagine anywhere more romantic when there's snow on the the ground and you're nice and warm inside with a glass of fine wine...
We stayed at RGH at the beginning of July -what a treat! The house is so spacious, despite our large group there was plenty of room for everyone. The garden is stunning and from here it is easy to reach the centre of Hawkshead on foot. Thoroughly recommend this delightful hideaway-we will definitely be back.
