We stayed at Roger Ground House in May and had a great time. The refurbishments have made for a very comfortable well equipped house which also has bags of character. Hawkshead is a lovely town with great pubs and only a short walk away. Public park also great for the kids with free tennis courts and play ground. Pretty much a perfect location in the Lakes.
Fabulous week at Roger Ground House this week. We have stayed in a number of self catering houses over the years and this counts as one of the best. Very comfortable, spacious and well equipped as well as being very tastefully decorated. Being able to organise the right combination of double & twin beds is a real bonus when working with 2 families and various aged teens. Excellent location for walks from the doorstep and a great base for wider exploring. Just a few minutes walk from Hawkshead village with some lovely shops and a well stocked Co-op. You really can leave the car alone for a few days. Eateries of note include the Old Stamp House in Ambleside and the Drunken Duck. Will most certainly be back!
Hawkshead Hideaway is perfect for couples who want to discover the Lake District or just soak in the sanctuary of the local environment.
A fully modernised Apartment with awesome views across the fells.
Its so lovely to wake up and sit at the breakfast table and absorb those magnificent views and enjoy the peace and tranquillity.
Less than 10 minutes walk to the famous Hawkshead village with all the expected amenities it's a gem of a place
William Wordsworth's visits to Hawkshead no doubt gave him Inspirations for his romantic poetic works and walking contributions
Most enjoyable stay in this lovely old house. The quality of the recent restoration is excellent . Brilliant views across to Fairfield and beyond. Gentle short stroll into Hawkshead along footpath for good choice of pubs and shops. Easy walks to Tarn Hows and Grizedale forest. We will definately be back.
This fabulous apartment is perfect for 2 , well appointed, extremely comfortable and very quiet . It is a delight to have breakfast sat looking at the uninterrupted views of the hills .
All the fixtures and fittings are of very high quality and there is nothing you need that cannot be obtained from th local Coop
Beware the low beams ( I am above 6 ft tall and managed with just a couple of knocks )
Outside his a good size private garden through which you can access a footpath to Hawkshead, Tarn Hows , and Grisedale forest or you can walk ( Less than 10 mins ) to 4 or 5 really good pubs ( The slow roast lamb at the Queens Head is fabulous )
All in all an excellent property and position
We will be visiting again
