“Great Cottage for Couples”
Reviewed 7 April 2017 for a stay in February 2017

The house is fantastic, well equipped and very comfortable. It is just a short walk from Ambleside so we walked in every day which took about 10 minutes. There are some great walks straight from the house. Rates very reasonable. Would stay again.

“Great location and well equipped”

An easy walk into Ambleside (lots of outdoor shops and places to eat and drink) and positioned in a court yard with other properties - setting it back from the road a little. There are also walks directly from the property. The house is very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and there's a great array of walking guides and maps in a box in the sitting room. The only downside is that it's spread over three floors - bedroom and ensuite toilet on the ground floor, sitting room on the first floor and kitchen and bathroom at the top. At least using the stairs kept me mobile after a day out walking. I'd love to go back.

“Great little bolt hole”
Reviewed 6 April 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Stayed here a few weeks before Christmas and the owner had added a few festive touches. Far enough out from Ambleside to enjoy the countryside yet close enough to wander into town for a meal or drink.

Fabulous stay in the Mounting Steps. Immaculately clean and comfortable. Great position - 15 minute walk into Ambleside with good selection of restaurants and pubs.
Best moments - eating breakfast in the kitchen looking out to lake Windermere. Lake cruise to Bowness. Sunny weather and daffodils. Craft ales in the Queens hotel and food in Doi Intanon.
Highly recommended - other family members have booked for later in the year!

“Relaxing, cosy, wonderful Christmas sanctuary”
Reviewed 4 April 2017 for a stay in December 2016

We escaped the Christmas mayhem by booking in to Mounting Steps for the week, although we encountered two storms in the week it didn't matter, when it got too extreme we retreated back to the lovely cost, comfortable cottage/house which was for us just a nice distance to walk in to Ambleside, the Accomodation is very well equiped and the spa bath heavenly, we will definately return it was so peaceful.
We are very active people and the accomodation being split over 3 levels didn't worry us but it may be a challenge for the less fit.
