“Just fantastic, would highly recommend”

What a wonderful cottage and location. Nicely done out and having brought extra things such as coffee percolator and sharp knives, found there was no need, as the kitchen equipment was great.Once we found where the boiler was, it is a lovely warm cottage!
Would highly recommend. We went with seven adults and it was marvellous. will definitely come again. Also found the owner Liz really helpful and nothing too much trouble.

“Lovely Location”
Reviewed 30 January 2013 for a stay in January 2013

We spent a lovely and very snowy weekend here...A beautiful spot with some lovely walks over the hill to Ambleside with stunning views of Lake Windemere.
I agree with the previous comments made. I believe they have summed up the cottage well. A spacious cottage with character and a modern and well equipped kitchen and dining area

(It is located right on a road but there really wasn't much traffic during the weekend that we stayed so that wasn't a problem for us)

There was ample space for three couples and 2 kids. As well as parking. It is also a fairly quick and easy drive from the M6.

If the fireplace was working I would rate it 5 stars.

“Nice cottage”

Nice large cottage with plenty of room inside and space to park 2+ cars which is often difficult to find in the Lake District. Plus points: Lovely and warm with plenty of radiators, bed linen spotless and crisp, lots of crockery and pots and pans, a lovely garden which would be a delight in the summer with a raised patio area, garden furniture and bbq.
Not so plus points: It appeared to have been well occupied over the season and could do with some TLC, the shower over the bath worked in a fashion as bath filled up with water whist using it and the shower door leaks so the floor gets very wet. The downstairs larger bedroom external wall is right on the road so from 6am onwards there is some traffic noise.
As the property is so old (1700s?) the windows get very wet with condensation. There is a wonderful fireplace with a wood burner which has been used in the past as there are ashes in it but now is for ornamental use only - what a shame - it would have transformed the living room.
Some attention to detail and a through sping clean would make this cottage 5* but overall a fantastic time was had by all
