“Perfect place”

Spent a week here with my wife and Father in May 2013. It exceeded our expectations in every way.
First of all, the location is excellent as it is so close to Ambleside (no more than a 10 minute walk).
The lodge itself was very well equipped even to providing books, maps and DVDs (My Dad managed to read about 6 books during our stay).
My wife and I got out for a few hikes and we could have easily spent a considerable amount of time here to get around all the available routes within easy reach of this lodge.
Photographs don't do this place justice as rooms are much larger than they appeared.
We would definitely recommend this place.

“Ideal for Ambleside and the Lake District”
Reviewed 24 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

Park Gates Lodge is the ideal place to stay in the Ambleside/Lake District Area. The cottage is wonderful and includes all the amenities needed (except internet access). It is in a private, quiet countryside location, yet is only a safe, comfortable 5-10 minute walk into Ambleside. If you don't want to walk, there is a public bus stop beside the cottage. The cottage is well maintained and clean. The owner was very pleasant to deal with, prompt in communication, and prompt in refunding our security deposit.

The Ambleside area has many hiking trails which are accessible from the cottage, even without a car.

There are places in town where you can get free internet access (pubs and the library), which is what we did. However, it would have been better to have access at the cottage. But, all in all, the many advantages of the cottage and its location make up for this minor inconvenience.

I highly recommend this vacation spot and cottage!

“Perfect cottage”

Stayed here for a week with our young baby and had a super holiday. Cottage was perfect. Lots of space in all rooms, whilst still retaining a cosey feel. The kitchen was well equipped, a real home from home. The bathroom was also excellent, newly fitted, with a bath for bathing the baby and a fantastic separate shower. The real highlight was the location, a 10 minute stroll into Ambleside along pavement (important with the buggy) or in the other direction a short walk into the countryside.
