“Amazing!!!!”
Reviewed 25 September 2015 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed here in December 2014 for my husband's 60th Birthday, my Daughter in Law's 30th Birthday and our 40th Wedding Anniversary. There were 3 generation including my 2 granddaughters. The cottage was outstanding and the owner could not have been more helpful when booking and just prior to arriving. I would definitely recommend the property for groups. It was very well equipped and the surroundings are breath taking. We would love to return sometime with the family again. we travelled from West Lothian, East Lothian and Milton Keynes for this family celebration and it was well worth it. We even managed to pre book a grocery delivery from a well known supermarket. All in all a wonderful experience in a superb house.

“Beautiful views, good position, nicely furnished, well equipped house”
Reviewed 19 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We spent a short break at Lowfold, as part of a group of 3 couples, last weekend and enjoyed it very much. There are 4 large bedrooms, all well furnished, one being a downstairs very large bedroom with an en-suite. The views from the rear of the house overlook rolling fields down to Esthwaite Water, with mountains in the background, quite beautiful and we were blessed with sunshine so were able to take advantage of the outside veranda. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and modern and the heating system seemed to work very well, although the weather was warm so didn't get the opportunity to use the log fire. Hawkshead is within easy walking distance and there is a convenient pub close by which serves good food but does get very busy. Sarah, the owner, dealt with my enquiries quickly and professionally. I would have no hesitation in recommending this house, just one mention of the drive, if you have a large car it is a little tricky to manoeuvre.

“Ideal location for Coniston and Windermere”
Reviewed 2 May 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Five of us stayed here for a week in April and were blessed with perfect weather - blue skies everyday - except the last. The property has 4 good sized bedrooms, one of them on the ground floor which is ideal for someone who has difficulty walking up stairs. Everything you need in the property is available.

The only thing to be aware of is the limited parking in front of the house - we had 2 cars, but most of the time we parked one of them in a small parking about 100m up the road.

Besides that, the property is ideally placed for visiting both Coniston and Windermere, and there are various walks that can actually start from the house - we particularly liked the short walk to the very peaceful Moss Eccles (try this walk in late afternoon), and the much longer walk to Tarn Hows.

For food shopping, try the Co-op in Hawkshead - or for larger shops, Windermere is only about 15 to 20 minutes away - more fun if you take the ferry over Windermere.

“Best Chritsmas holiday”
Reviewed 10 January 2015 for a stay in December 2014

This is a lovely place to stay. We had a fantastic Christmas here. The cottage has everything you could need. The booking process was simple and the information sent before and duplicated at the cottage contained all the answers. The cottage is light and spacious. The quality of bedding and fittings is very good. Nice and warm when it got cold. Beautiful views I couldn't wait to check were still there every morning.! As a rule we don't do return visits because there are so many places to go but this may prove the only exception to our rule.

“A Home from Home in the Lakes”
Reviewed 1 November 2014 for a stay in September 2014

A beautiful cottage that had all of the creature comforts that you would have in your own home. Accommodation was extremely clean, tidy & very well maintained throughout. Everything was readily available for those who wanted a totally self-catering holiday. For those who don't, the cottage is very well situated. The local pub (The Tower Bank Arms) was very conveniently situated 10 minutes away on foot and is an establishment that I would recommend for its hospitality, food & drink. The popular village of Hawkshead is also just a short distance away and typifies the Lakeland communities. It also happens to be my favorite Lakeland village.
All in all, the week we spent at Lowfold was truly special ...... not only for the comfort of the cottage but for the surrounding views across to the lake and the peace & tranquility of the location.
