There is no doubt that this barn converted cottage had class. A delightful property with an interesting architectural twist....an upstairs lounge, suitably adorned with a large, flatscreen tv. Entrance to the cottage is via a gated pathway through well tendered, landscaped gardens. There are 3 bedrooms, all have en-suite bathrooms. Towels and complimentary toiletries were provided. The fully equipped dining area and kitchen were on the ground floor, the main lounge and master bedroom on the first, accessed via a wooden staircase leading up from the dining area. WIFI was available. The Rowley Estate itself is surrounded by beautiful farmland and provided us with a perfect refuge and was a walkers paradise. A hamper of luxury items was also greatly appreciated. There were a few small repairs needed which I trust have now been addressed. All in all, a wonderful property set within beautiful scenery which in my humble opinion would provide the perfect location for hikers everywhere!
Christine and Jilly were most helpful to accommodate all requests for our family of 6 stay over Easter. Cottage is wonderful. This is our second stay. Ate one night at the local Boot & Shoe pub within walking distance from cottage - it has a nice atmosphere, was busy but staff were very friendly and food tasty.
On a rainy day visited Honister Slate mine, worth a visit but not for small children.
The rest of holiday spent hours walking in different areas, relaxing back at the cottage, BBQ, playing board games and watching DVDs. Home from home.
Fabulous family time.
Would definitely stay here again... The cottage was a fantastic place for us to stay as a family ... 5 adults, a toddler and a dog. Having a bedroom each with ensuite, a huge kitchen, dining area and lounge was wonderful, with fantastic views. The welcoming hamper was a pleasant surprise and we were even able to arrange a shopping delivery from the local Sainsburys. The kitchen itself was very well equipped and a washing machine and tumble dryer was just the thing with a toddler. We had some lovely walks around the Lake District, all within a reasonable distance. Jilly was very responsive to any queries and stair gates were quickly sourced to fit the stairs. All in all a very relaxing, yet healthy week here. Highly recommended.
We stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday with my family. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and the welcome hamper was a nice touch. The view from Wythburn cottage across to Blencowe Hall is beautiful and we had perfect spring weather to enjoy the Estate. The website is excellent for providing you with everything you need to know from local amenities, to walks, catering, hot tub hire, and activities to do, so read up before you arrive and plan ahead. We sampled the local Boot & Shoe for a drink and the menu looked lovely. We also ate at the Sun Inn which was very nice. The cottage is perfectly set for quiet seclusion if you wish or is a short drive to Penrith & Keswick for more action. We had a day at The Lakes Distillery which is highly recommended and not far to travel to. If you want to travel further in to the lakes, Ullswater and Bowness are within an hour's drive. The owners are very quick to respond to emails and are very accommodating if you have any other queries.
The cottage was well located for walking the dogs, by which we were so pleased to have a fabulous cottage and dogs are allowed. we respected their requirements regarding the dogs, where cleaning towels, doggy bags were provided. the bedrooms all with en suite. the whole experience was just what we wanted. the local public house the boot and shoe was also a treat.
They have a number of cottages on the estate so next time may try one of the other ones.
We would all recommend the Rowley Estates. very good value for money
