Good way to waste an hour .
Loved the ship models and the history of the fishing trawlers!!!
Daughter didn’t understand why people would kill whales , and why in such large numbers . So this place wasn’t her favourite place, in fact hated the place for this .
But my son loved the harpoon weapons.... that’s kids for you .

I rarely stick it out to walk and read through a whole exhibition - this was a notable exception. The subject matter was gripping and with just the right amount of detail to help one witness the privations of the expedition participants and then there is the relief that they all survived. Wonderful - well done Hull and the Museum

Leave yourself a good hour to take it all in. From Whales to Polar Bears and Smacks to Trawlers. In war and peacetime and through the Cod Wars. Wonderful models and rare photographs - who would have thought a trawler in wartime would be camouflaged by fir trees to navigate the Norwegian waters. A superb collection of Scrimshaw and exhibits of the gruesome weaponry used to hunt the Whale and supporting documentation of the catches. Thoroughly recommended

Made the visit to Hull to see the exibition of Sir Earnest Shackleton's Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1914-1917).

Some amazing photographs and artifax on display, The photographs capture special moments in the expedition with chilling clarity, almost like looking through a window.

A very special collection. - should go down as a must see exhibition..
