Nice lunch in comfortable surroundings. Attentive staff. Lovely club sandwich and good black coffee with delicious shortbread biscuits. Bit pricey but all made on the premises by proper chefs so you get what you pay for. I would return again.

An excellent dinner served in a relaxing atmosphere by well trained knowledgeable staff. The menu we choose from was the Pre Theatre and offered a good selection with added twists making the eating experience very enjoyable. Well worth a visit

These dinners are hidden gems. Exquisite tasting menus paired with five wines with an experienced host guiding the tastings. Always a wonderful evening. A true bargain- the cost of wines alone if you bought them would be way more. Food is perfectly paired.

We had selected a B& B & dinner package when we made our hotel booking and were impressed by the very good presentation and taste of our two courses the first evening. Because of the limited choice on our "package" menu we also selected a dish from the a la carte menu the second evening. This, however, did not offer a far wider or interesting choice. Good selection of wines at reasonable prices. The service was very professional but somewhat slow.

I had eaten in the Abode restaurants in Chester & in the Exeter one - which was tragically burnt to the ground, but reopens in 2020, I knew that the menu selection, preparation, cooking, presentation and service would be fine dining. It was superb, we had a starter, main course and dessert each. all accompanied by two glasses of wine and to follow a fine dessert wine. As anticipated the service was flawless. Delighted !!
