We primarily booked this hotel as it was pet friendly and we wanted to take a little Yorkshire terrier with us on holiday. The reviews look good and I would commend the hotel, and it lives up to its expectations and we love staying here.
We stayed for three nights and it was a great location for getting access into Canterbury without having to worry about the car.
Room was really good standard and very clean and we all love the breakfasts.

Group of 10 Australian cyclists on a ride to Rome stayed at Canterbury Hotel - very suitable with secure parking for bikes and a car park for support vehicle. We had to get going by 7 am so missed breakfast although staff put out some fruit and cereal on reception deck for us. A word of warning to early leavers- no staff on board until 7 so hard to access the bikes. My room was #9 ( at the back away from the very noisy road) , comfy bed, nice view over the garden, great bathroom. The Maidenhead pub was only a few minutes away, followed by a lovely dinner at Pinocchios. All our rooms were on the first floor with Windows that actually opened plus air con if we wanted to use it. You do need to lug luggage up the stairs - not a problem for us but might be for others. Staff very pleasant and friendly. There is also a roomy bar , opens at 5 pm. Sorry we made a lot of noise leaving in the morning but glad to see last reviewers didn't hear us

We have just spent a four day weekend at this wonderful hotel. We opted for a superior room as this was a special occasion so can't comment on the standard rooms. Our room was superb and I can't find anything to criticise. We were lucky enough to overlook the rose garden so we had a good night's sleep in a quiet setting. The rooms were very quiet, we heard nothing from other guests during this time while we were in our room. Plenty of toiletries in the bathroom, refreshed every day, with tea and coffee making facilities as well.

The staff in the dining room at breakfast time were very friendly and would do anything to make your mealtime enjoyable. The breakfast was excellent with a choice of continental or traditional English breakfast but we felt that if we had wanted to we could have had both. There was plenty of everything including fruit juice and fruits.

If we manage to get down to Canterbury again we would definitely book into this lovely hotel. Well done to all the staff there!

Room Tip: Ask for an upgrade to a superior room, garden side of the building if possible.

This is the second time to stay in this hotel.

Regardless of the average room furniture, bathroom window that I couldn't close it, and one small bottle of water in a double room, but the reception lady and gentleman at the check in and out were absolutely full of welcoming, warmth, professionalism, greet and treat.

Would stay there again, but they need to take extra care of the room details

We were enchanted by this place. Small enough to make guests feel individual, big enough to have good amenities including on-site spa, small swimming pool, flower garden, private parking and so on. Very well resourced breakfasts, pleasant little bar with unusually wide range of whiskeys, bottled water added to the mini fridge every single day, in-room safe, really superb staff. Fifteen minutes' walk from the fascinating historic centre of Canterbury. Only two tiny criticisms: there's no lift (it's just the nature of the building) and our glorious antique bath was pretty difficult to shower in without drenching the floor! (First-world problems indeed.)

Room Tip: Be aware that there is no lift. The only noisy aspect we experienced was the seagulls!
