Wonderful Italian restaurant with tasty hearty food. Portions are generous and flavours are full and authentic. The staff are particularly attentive and we had a wonderful evening.

Pinocchio's is a tiny Italian restaurant slightly outside if Canterbury's town centre. It offers pizza, pasta dishes, fish and meat dishes. They make gluten free pizza, which is a plus.

The gluten free pizza is very decent, among the best eaten. My wife had pasta, quite good. As a dessert I had a creme brulee with saffron: a brave touch. Tasty, but I'm not thrilled.

Overall, I was happy. The bill was on the expensive side, though. Canterbury is quite an expensive city, due to tourism, and decent restaurants there cost more than in London. Be aware.

3 of us went to celebrate a birthday. Apart from 1 other table, we were the only ones there - what a gem other people are missing! We joined forces with the other table mid afternoon & all agreed the food, atmosphere & service was excellent. Would definately visit again.

Pinocchio’s is a strange blend. One the one hand the food is of a high standard and freshly prepared. I had the tagliatelle du mare which was excellent (although the portion size was slightly small). The main menu pricing was reasonable though maybe a ‘tad’ on the high side (more noticeable with the desserts) and the wine offering was very good and realistically priced.
However, whilst the food and wine is generally upmarket the ambience, décor and furnishings are clearly not. It’s rather dull and downmarket. I might have said ‘cheap and cheerful’ but, to be honest, the ambience isn’t that cheerful.
So if you don’t mind eating excellent well-cooked Italian food in a rather dull and uninspiring venue then this is the place for you. However, if ambience is an important part of your whole dining experience then Pinocchio’s is probably best avoided.
