A friendly welcome where we were guided to our room with info on the public areas on the way. Our room had decor in keeping with the Edwardian style of the building while remaining mostly practical. There was a useful storage area and a decent bathroom.
The bed was comfortable and the room dark and quiet enough.

A couple of negatives to get out of the way - wood shim on bedside wall lamp, couple of black spots high in bathroom, cobweb around bathroom blind and dribbles of something on bedroom skirting under radiator. Sensor lights could use a wider range.

Purpose of visit was to go to a show at the Alban Arena - under 15 minute walk - when we returned to hotel we hoped for a couple of drinks in the bar/lounge area. At 10.50pm on a Friday night we were served our nightcap and advised that the bar area would be closing imminently. I guess no late licence here.

Come the morning and the all important breakfast service - humour with a hint of sarcasm (I asked where we should sit and was advised at a table) - it worked, then back to professional service. Order taken and delivered timely hot and clean food.

If opportunity allowed I would be happy to stay here again and hopefully for longer

Back in October I've stayed for 3 nights together with my parents who came over to visit me and had a great stay. Everyone was really friendly, a feeling that made us feel like home. Lazaros one of the managers was great offering us local information and guidance as well as an exceptional service. Also the Italian food was gorgeous.
Whe I will be back in the area will be coming back with tremendous pleasure.

Me my beautiful wife and three boys stayed here while we had a short break in London. We loved the hotel, very nice and clean, great polite staff, and safe off road parking. We stayed in one of the cottage / apartment family rooms, clean and tidy, and comfortable beds. Rooms kept very warm and had to have the window open. Close to the train station. I would definitely stop here again. My only downside was the full English breakfast didn't have Heinz baked beans ( or any beans but got to be Heinz to make it proper ) making it dry. ( maybe I should have asked for beans I might have got them but a full English beans are a given ) And been a Yorkshire bloke I like a bit of life at the bar on an eve, hardly anyone was drinking the time we was there, maybe everyone was out at the time or maybe it was because the bar wasn't so appealing, it was too well lit and no music. I felt if I'd have drank like a northerner I would have lowered the tone so I didn't bother. ( meaning the hotel lost out on me spending a fortune on drink ). Also we put the do not disturb thingy on the door handle before we went out, we did this because we have left all our stuff out, left all our dirty clothes on the floor and snoozed the alarm and got up late so didn't get to pre tidy the room before the staff came in, every hotel we have ever stopped in the sign means don't come in but it didn't in this hotel.... do not disturb means don't come in !! again tho great place to stop.

What a lovely welcoming hotel this is. I stayed on two separate nights and had two different rooms (both doubles) I had booked a single but it was not a problem to upgrade and both rooms were clean, warm and very comfortable. The first room was small but it was so well presented that it didn't matter. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms and there was plenty of tea bags and milk - not just enough for two cups which is the experience in most hotels. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was cooked to order and the crispy bacon was particularly welcomed. I only have on every small niggle (and it is just a niggle) - the bath towels were a little on the small side. Overall, I had a lovely stay at the Ardmore and fully recommend it to anyone visiting St Albans.

Spent three nights here, the room was ok, a little small and the bed seemed a bit small too. Main down side was the shower which was poor, to the extent that I put off washing my hair till I got home as it would have taken an eternity as there was such low pressure! The general decor was dated and in need of a refurb. On the positive though the room rate was good and the breakfast was good too. The waiting staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel was a 10-15 walk into St Albans which was good. We didn't eat at the hotel as there were so many other appealing restaurants in town. Our room was at the back with a railway track nearby, this didn't bother us but might if you're a light sleeper. The garden was lovely!
