From start to finish we felt welcome and attended to. The hotel is in an idyllic country setting, the site is beautiful. You are greeted first with huge stone pillars at the entrance, followed by a glorious avenue of lime trees ~ it sets the standard for the quality that is to continue. The staff are adept and friendly. The rooms are spotless and beautifully maintained; a mix of solid classic decor with an elegant nod to modern qood quality design. The food is spectacular. Perfect for a relaxing break ~ I look forward to the next opportunity to visit.

We had a very enjoyable stay here with our dog. The staff are very good and attentive. The weather was lovely so were able to enjoy our afternoon tea out on the terrace. Shame we couldn't manage dinner as it sounded very good. Had snacks and drinks on the terrace later in the evening. Very good options for breakfast. I must reiterate how great the staff are especially in the bar/terrace areas. Look forward to returning.

Lainston House was the setting for our daughter and her fiancés wedding. I found every single member of staff, that I came into contact with, pleasant and polite and nothing was too much trouble. Staying over 2 nights, I was very impressed with the professionalism of everyone too. The rooms that my party used were large, clean and welcoming. I did, on the 1st night, have to request extra robes and toiletries as there were 5 ladies staying in the Silverhorn Suite, bride, bridesmaids and mothers, but nothing was too much bother. The 2nd night I was allocated a smaller suite, Heather, for myself, husband and son, which was just as stunning as the first. Lainston House being a listed property doesn't have air-conditioning as standard in every room because of its age, but there were fans available if required and some rooms have a portable air-con unit. Most of the windows are sash style windows in keeping with the property and most look out onto the grounds, whether a courtyard or more extensive grounds. The grounds are extremely well kept and set the scene for some stunning photos. The bedrooms were large and comfortable and the bathrooms were huge with underfloor heating, if wanted, separate shower and bath (in the 2 rooms i had). Alex, the daytime duty manager, was very well informed and professional to the core, being there when we arrived with the wedding bits and bobs to making sure everyone was comfortable for their stay. The wedding was truly amazing and even though the weather didn't look to be on our side, we managed to have an outdoor wedding just like my daughter and fiancé dreamed of - Prefect!
The was a slight hiccup with the breakfast room in the morning but again this was sorted out with very little fuss and those of us that stayed at the hotel, breakfasted together before checking out. Breakfast comprised of cold buffet, help yourself, along with hot food listed on a menu where everything is cooked fresh. I really couldn't find fault in anything or with anyone and truly loved my experience of staying at Lainston House but then its not every day I go and stay at a 5 star hotel like some do. I would definitely go back, one day.

I did a fantastic “Entertaining” course with Lewis Hamblet.

On arrival I received a very warm welcome by Sylvain Gachot and Susan Denny. We were made feel at ease and very comfortable, they did an excellent job of explaining what the day involved.

Lewis was great at demonstrating the meals that we would be preparing. The menu choice was great.

While we preparing Sue did an excellent job at looking after us all and was very helpful.

I would definitely recommend this cookery school and will be returning hopefully sooner than later

Is the perfect place for relaxation!! No noise at all!! The location is perfect !! Enormous beautiful trees sarounding the hotel!the room was fantastic!! It has even had a tv in the bath. The bed was like slipping on the clouds!!
I didn’t like the breakfast ! I founded very poor. Different kinds of cooking eggs, cereals , fruits. I had just a coffee. Am I a jitter that I want at least a kind of cheese and a ham for my breakfast in a five star hotel?

Thank you for taking the time to share your review of Lainston House. I am pleased to read how relaxing you found your stay with us. I am sorry to hear that our breakfast offering did not meet your expectations. As well as offering a full continental breakfast buffet our cooked egg offerings do indeed include the following , including Omelettes, Eggs Benedict (toasted muffin, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce), Eggs Royale (toasted muffin, poached eggs, smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce), Eggs Florentine (served with spinach and hollandaise sauce). Also on the menu there is the offering of the tradition full English Breakfast which you are able to select items as you wish. Should non of these items wet your apatite then there are the options of Grilled Kipper, Smoked Haddock or Porridge followed by Smoked Raclette Cheese & Cured Meat (this item is written at the bottom of the menu as they are kept in the fridge and not on the buffet to keep fresh). I sincerely hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back again in the near future giving you the opportunity to try some of these well crafted dishes which will inevitably set you up for the day ahead.

Kind regards,

James Webb
