Lainston House was the setting for our daughter and her fiancés wedding. I found every single member of staff, that I came into contact with, pleasant and polite and nothing was too much trouble. Staying over 2 nights, I was very impressed with the professionalism of everyone too. The rooms that my party used were large, clean and welcoming. I did, on the 1st night, have to request extra robes and toiletries as there were 5 ladies staying in the Silverhorn Suite, bride, bridesmaids and mothers, but nothing was too much bother. The 2nd night I was allocated a smaller suite, Heather, for myself, husband and son, which was just as stunning as the first. Lainston House being a listed property doesn't have air-conditioning as standard in every room because of its age, but there were fans available if required and some rooms have a portable air-con unit. Most of the windows are sash style windows in keeping with the property and most look out onto the grounds, whether a courtyard or more extensive grounds. The grounds are extremely well kept and set the scene for some stunning photos. The bedrooms were large and comfortable and the bathrooms were huge with underfloor heating, if wanted, separate shower and bath (in the 2 rooms i had). Alex, the daytime duty manager, was very well informed and professional to the core, being there when we arrived with the wedding bits and bobs to making sure everyone was comfortable for their stay. The wedding was truly amazing and even though the weather didn't look to be on our side, we managed to have an outdoor wedding just like my daughter and fiancé dreamed of - Prefect!
The was a slight hiccup with the breakfast room in the morning but again this was sorted out with very little fuss and those of us that stayed at the hotel, breakfasted together before checking out. Breakfast comprised of cold buffet, help yourself, along with hot food listed on a menu where everything is cooked fresh. I really couldn't find fault in anything or with anyone and truly loved my experience of staying at Lainston House but then its not every day I go and stay at a 5 star hotel like some do. I would definitely go back, one day.
