My teenage daughter has always had a fascination with the tragic history of the Titanic, so we happily visited this museum with her and were absolutely delighted we did.
We highly recommend the guided tour, even though it is longer (2 hours), we loved listening to the Titanic historian’s account, stories, little known facts and incredible knowledge depth of both of the Titanic and Southampton’s role in this sad event. I would say this was one of the most fascinating museums I have visited and it was also quite interactive so kept all ages interested and engaged. The relics kept there must be priceless and make one really and truly sit and ponder the tragedy from different perspectives. We didn’t realise that the iceberg was literally the last link in a chain of incredibly unfortunate events that lead up to the eventual sinking of this beautiful ship and death of over 1,500 innocent people.
The arrogance and greed of the Edwardians who were ultimately responsible for the deaths is staggering. Knowing that these lives could have and should have been spared is so poignantly overwhelming.
The price was very reasonable, there is a lovely little cafe/gift shop and we will always be glad we took the time to stop and visit.
Do yourself a favour and visit!
