As a boy I would beg my mother to take me to see the birds in the Aviary in Southampton, I grew up and took friends children etcetera to the Aviary, then the council got rid of it!!! I was furious, the Aviary was free to visit and enhanced the beauty of the park it was situated in,getting rid of it was a borderline crime! ... This is a review of Victoria park in Portsmouth,,, The park has a magnificent aviary!! Very similar to the old Southampton one , I've read another review written by a resident of Portsmouth saying the council wants rid of the Aviary!! This will be a mistake!! The Aviary is the best feature in Victoria park, the people of Portsmouth will really miss it when it's gone, the park is lovely, I hope Portsmouths people know about the council trying to get rid of the Aviary, coming from Southampton you hear rivalry with Portsmouth, I think its a bit silly.. But I always point out Pompeys pluses, the piers and the aviary in Victoria park are always top of the list.. They will really miss it if it goes.

I go out of my way to walk through this park on my own at least twice every week - often stopping for a coffee at the art cafe. It is an oasis in a busy urban sprawl. my kids love the climbing frame and the aviary. The aviary is unique and must be saved, the councils determination to close it is tragic. Vary your route to take in the park - you will feel better for it.

Ok so we took the boy Pokemon hunting for a treat as he has been good all week. Lots to see and do in the park, it's a pure oasis in Portsmouth. Lots of climbing frames swings and water features trees benches and a massive place with some animals in. From chickens to birds to tortoises. It's an amazing park.
Lots of Pokemon to catch lots of pokestops too.

Passed time in the park, there is a pets corner with birds and rabbits and Guinea pigs etc. There is a children's playground and cafe. Building work is going on at the end of the park. There are now no toilets in park.

Never seen this before but there is a central pen in this park with sections containing rabbits, ducks and peacocks, other small birds and a Guinea pig section! You can't pet the animals but fun to visit and they appeared well cared for.
