Feed the guinea pigs, wow. Excellent park where there are guinea pigs to feed and of course the birdlife. Nice plain park.

Nice green space for a stroll and not far from the city centre. Some of the areas need a bit of tidying up. The animal section is good to watch the birds and guinea pigs, who never seem to be full up despite being fed by the public!

Just grabbed a bit of sunshine before a big downpour. Lovely park, clean and well maintained. Plenty of kids facilities, a cafe and monuments.

This is a nice big park that many people seemed to be enjoying. It did seem a bit unkept, but I wonder if it was just because it was early spring and the flower beds had not been planted and cared for. We saw lots of children with their parents, it seemed to have a safe, cosy atmosphere. There were some enclosures for birds and guinea pigs. A few nice statures and fountains also.

A little bit run down, but still free and a great place to relax or take kids to see the animals. Would benefit from the council investing in to it.

Took some friends here in December after they had visited war memorial as they wanted to explore. Haven't been for number of years and was disappointed to see how run down the aviary areas were. My children used to love these but very poorly stocked and looked generally grubby. No acces any longer to glasshouses either that I could see? On the plus side the play area is very inviting and certainly wasn't there when I used to take my children. Looked lovely and safe and fun. Worth knowing for the nicer weather for the grandchildren! We bviously in December everything very bare but still nice to have a green oasis in city centre.

I remember going here as a kid and loving it but recently I have taken my own child and god what a disappointment from what I could see they were building student flats that towered over the park the green house was non existent the aviaries had blue netting all around so you couldn't even see the animals pointless having them there really very disappointing trip no where near as good as I remember which is a real shame as this park with the right up keep could be fantastic

Beautiful park to stroll around and have lunch in the lovely cafe nearby. The park could do with some younger children's stuff to play on as it as there is not much else for them to play on.

As a boy I would beg my mother to take me to see the birds in the Aviary in Southampton, I grew up and took friends children etcetera to the Aviary, then the council got rid of it!!! I was furious, the Aviary was free to visit and enhanced the beauty of the park it was situated in,getting rid of it was a borderline crime! ... This is a review of Victoria park in Portsmouth,,, The park has a magnificent aviary!! Very similar to the old Southampton one , I've read another review written by a resident of Portsmouth saying the council wants rid of the Aviary!! This will be a mistake!! The Aviary is the best feature in Victoria park, the people of Portsmouth will really miss it when it's gone, the park is lovely, I hope Portsmouths people know about the council trying to get rid of the Aviary, coming from Southampton you hear rivalry with Portsmouth, I think its a bit silly.. But I always point out Pompeys pluses, the piers and the aviary in Victoria park are always top of the list.. They will really miss it if it goes.
