Ate and drank here whilst staying overnight at the attached Premier Inn. Good value for both food and drink. Food was fine and the service was very good. Nice views over the channel.

This establishment on the seafront at Southsea is a definite magnet for families and for us that is not all good! It is linked to the Premier Inn where we were staying, so ideally it should be a great place to eat if you do not want to venture far from the hotel, you don’t even have to go outside to get into the pub. We initially went in 6pm on Easter Sunday and it was like a war zone. The place was full of families with young kids many of whom were either shouting, screaming or running around unsupervised by their parents. That in itself is a disaster waiting to happen when staff are serving hot plates of food. The main attraction for parents is the soft play area attached to the pub. It was not for us!

Undaunted the following evening I had a look in around the same time and it was much the same, but we really did not want to walk into town because the weather was dire. We decided to check again around 7pm and it was a lot quieter. The frazzled, yet still smiling and helpful staff were getting on top of the task of clearing up and we were able to get a table in a quiet corner. We had an enjoyable bottle of wine accompanied by a Coronation Chicken salad and a Chicken and Leek filo pastry pie. Both meals were good and we enjoyed them. So, later in the evening seems to be a plan if you want a little peace, and in retirement we don’t want to eat with unruly families. Not sure what happened to parental standards, but that is not Brewers Fayre fault!

I have lived in Portsmouth for 50 + years and I can honestly say I have never visited this pub/ restaurant but that changed a few weeks ago friend wanted to try somewhere else for out weekly dining get together and we were extremely pleased with the whole experience, not only was the food out of this world staff were really good, and to top it off you can get amazing views of southsea seafront and old Portsmouth depending on where you are sitting , we enjoyed it so much we have been back and got the same level of service, anyone coming to Portsmouth and what a restaurant with all the above I would definitely recommend here.

This pub / restaurant is a great place for eating and drinking at a reasonable price. The bar service is slow as only two serving, but apart from that it’s ok.
